Here's how to install an aftermarket header on your Miata! What kinds of exhaust setups do you have on your cars?

Just installed a racing beat header on mine too! Just waiting on the racing beat power pulse race catback to come in the mail and I should be good to go. Nice video dude 👍

DriveItRyan awesome, enjoy it! I liked it before the turbo build started. Definitely a bit more punch on the top end and it looks great. Nice work on the slip angle videos!

Thanks for posting this! My son and I are restoring a little Miata that he found on the Internet - and will soon be doing mods. (And posting our progress on KZbin of course! LOL) We are looking at doing a header install and complete cat-back exhaust but are at a loss as to what to put behind the cat that doesn't "drone" down the road... I want LOUD, he wants no drone... Eventually we will come up with a compromise! Subbed after checking out several of your other videos - Good job and keep posting!

I’m glad you enjoyed it! Before you do that, remember that a turbo is basically free muffler ;) in all seriousness if you plan on keeping the car NA there’s lots of good exhaust clips on KZbin! I agree with your son, drone sucks. Good luck!

@@CashedOutCars I have owned a few race cars in my life and I have become addicted to HEARING the engine! I can tell exactly what's going on if I can hear it... So loud is good - to a point... Believe me, the sound of a 427 cid side oiler in a Shelby Cobra with side pipes 1 ft. away from your butt gets really old.... REALLY quick... On a long drive to town... On the track, it comes in handy - on the freeway it will drive you bat-shit crazy... LOL So I understand about the "drone".... The "sweet spot" is to hear the engine when it is accelerating or loaded down while downshifting. But have it be relatively quiet at cruising speeds at a constant steady RPM. THAT is what we want to find in a good cat-back for his Miata. The Borla kit (which I thought was going to be outstanding) sounds horrible... Lots of people have complained. I heard it on video and wasn't impressed. He won't let me drag out the plasma cutter and the welder and fab up something out of my pile of old race car parts! It would be FREE! And I know I have some 3 inch Summit Racing bullet racing mufflers for flat track roundy-round cars stashed here somewhere... I like FREE! And... Ya know... it IS a racing muffler - it must be good for another 10hp right!?!
@CashedOutCars4 жыл бұрын
I like the way you think with using the old race car parts, same kinda thing I like to do! I just finished a full exhaust on my freshly turbo’d car with $25 worth of 2.5” pipe and an old aftermarket muffler.. sounds pretty good, and you can’t beat the price! That video will be live this weekend so stay tuned. Have fun with your project!

how did you get the little bracket holding the old manifold to the transmission area?

For anyone reading now, I don't think you need it on the Racing Beat from what I read

Hey there brother thank you for the awesome video, it is super helpful. I recently did a full exhaust on my 99 NB. I chose the ISR racing circuit spec 2 exhaust. Love the sound it has a deep growl and is loud. Quick question though I'm looking to do the headers next however do you have to get it tuned after you install the headers? Haven't been able to find a miata tuner near me yet.
@CashedOutCars4 жыл бұрын
You’re very welcome! You don’t HAVE to get it tuned, I’ve been driving mine on a stock ECU since I installed mine. With that said, a tune will allow you to get the most out of upgrades, but it’s not absolutely necessary and most people don’t tune

If it was my money I would keep it stock as my 01 NB 1.8 has a 4 to 1 from the factory. With mild bolt on parts the factory exhaust system is pretty good with an aftermarket muffler. If you want to go forced induction then you would want to re think the exhaust but, my car is set up for cornering not drag racing. I would like more power as everyone would but for the same price I could get a N20 kit and make 50 more hp.

5:45 at this part. The clip near the joint of the manifold and the pipe going to the cat. That clip that bolts to the transmission. You didnt show us how you got that out. My NB process is like yours but that clip is killing me right now.

Good catch, I didn't show it in the video because it wasn't doing anything on my car. Maybe someone previously modified it. Good luck!

@CashedOutCars4 жыл бұрын
They do a good job of lowering engine bay temps and shielding your brakes components from heat. With that said I didn't run one on this aftermarket header and it was okay. The decision is up to you!

I’m guessing the o2 fit? I bought circuitwerks 421 headers and where the o2 goes is lower down than the raceland headers. Did you have to do anything to get the o2 to work/fit?

I put on a new cat-back exhaust yesterday and snapped both studs on the cat in half. Had to drill them out with cobalt bits.
