I ended up using some thin rope and looped it through the balancer itself and tied it super tight onto the car itself to stop the crank from spinning while tightening the bolt on the new balancer I didn’t wanna risk using a pry bar or screw driver to wedge in.

Why did you use gasket maker on the keyed groove? I have a 2000 C5 that’s gonna need a damper pretty soon.

I did that because my crank isn't keyed. It's best to put some high temp gasket maker in place of where the key should be in this situation. However yours maybe keyed and in that case you wouldn't apply any gasket maker to the balancer. Good luck with yours! I've got videos on every step to getting to this point in my Avy the Corvette playlist.

How did you torque the bolt without the crank turning ?
@ArcticVette2 жыл бұрын
Used a pry bar to hold it in place, same as removing the bolt. The crossmember was helpful here
