I installed one in my three stall shop a couple years ago and it works great! If it's in the single digits outside I will use my 80,000 forced air diesel heater for about 15 minute to bring up temp to working conditions (65 -70) before it shuts down. Then the electric heater takes over and maintains the temp all day. It took me all of 15 minutes to install and hard wire it to the fuze panel. And the good part is my electric bill doesn't seem to go up much!

@Jimi Bmore Fucking seriously? You think I can't figure out a knob? "Comfort Zone" was the name of mine. IT. DIDN'T. WORK. And before you run your mouth again, know the difference between the practicality of a knob thermostat on the unit hanging from the ceiling and one mounted on the wall that can be controlled remotely (and is within reach), as was going to be the case (and certainly is with what I have now). I've since moved on to a competent GAS unit that heats the garage in a fraction of the time and costs way less to run.

2 style points : 1) connect your wires ground first, then neutral (white) second, then any hots. This is the safest way. 2) always do the panel connections last.....it is hard to accidentally energize something that is not plugged in or connected to power.

Will be installing one of these heaters (different brand, but looks the same) in tomorrow. One question regarding heater that I have that cannot be found in poorly written manual. When I am not using the heater, is it technically still "on'. No where in the manual or on the unit does it show that you can turn it off. In watching another video, that guy just flipped his circuit breaker off when not in use for an extended period of time. Thanks
@TheOriginalMechanic3 жыл бұрын
Mine is certainly not on when the dial is fully counterclockwise. By that I mean there is no heat and no fan. The small red light is on but that's it. I never saw any need to turn the breaker off but certainly that is an option in the off-season.

does it matter which wire (black or white) goes to which terminal inside the heater?....also, you didn't mention to use a 220-240v circuit breaker.
@keithharrington87152 жыл бұрын
No, not in 240vac. The wires are physically the same size and can carry the same amount of amps.I But Remember, the electrical guys color code the wires for an understanding of what that specific wire does. They leave a white wire white if it is connected to the neutral bar in the panel. If that white wire is connected to a breaker, they normally "colorize" it red, blue, or black with tape or marker. Hope that helps.

A wall outlet isn't necessary unless you want the heater to be mobile. I'm using it in this one place in this one garage so I hardwired it into a dedicated 220V breaker in a 200Amp household breaker box. If you want to move it around to different buildings, sure then install 220V outlets.

Hello I been looking at many youtube videos about this heaer and many people said their electricity went up quiet a bit:( If I buy this electric heater I will be only using it when I play pool in my garage which is once or 2x a month for about 6 or 7 hours. Since I have natural gas I wanted to install a natural gas heater but this sounds expensive to tap into the gas line or run a gas line to garage. However I think on the long run it will be cheaper that the electric heater??? Some people on you tube said it went up to $100 dollars a month others said about $30 or $40?? Anyways I will be installing a 240V outlet into my garage since I will also be getting a used electric car and need to charge it. So if I decide to get this electric heater I will already have an outlet for it. On the videos I see people installing the electric heater high in the ceiling usually on the corner. If i get electric heater can I just use an extension cord to plug it in or iwill it be better if I just install 240V outlet close to ceiling where heater will be?
@TheOriginalMechanic3 жыл бұрын
I didn't notice much with the electric bill. I only use mine intermittently when I do a job in the garage though. i wouldn't use an extension cord in a 240V high current circuit due to risk of overheating. Maybe a two socket 240 volt outlet?
@futbol19723 жыл бұрын
@@TheOriginalMechanic oh cool I did not know they had a 2 socket 240v outlet? Well, in this case when charging car I have to maybe get on stool or something everythime I wanna charge my car.
