Well thankfully your big toe has stumbled across this gem of a video, and you might genuinely want to favorite, like, or share this, because to my knowledge this is the only guide out there that will actually show you how to get an ICC profile properly working on Windows 11 & 10, because every other guide out there I’ve seen is dated and doesn’t actually work. So let’s do it. First hit the Windows key and type in “Color Management”. Open it up and check “Use my settings for this device”. Then click Add. Now before you point to the ICC profile, determine if it was created for HDR or not. If so check “Add as Advanced Color Profile” If not just select the profile and press OK. Next go to the advanced tab. Make sure the same profile is selected in the “Device profile” drop down. Then click change system defaults. Repeat the same steps here we just completed. Then under the advanced check “Use Windows display calibration”. And that's it, your ICC profile will now be automatically loaded. Just make sure you change these settings if you ever get a new display.

my display have color banding issue with ubuntu 23.10/windows11 gradient wallpapers and even in youtube videos played in chrome. KZbin Ambient mode is the worst which causes irritating kind of color band animations instead of colored glow. tried applying different color profile, changing hdmi cable etc. nothing woked. then i found that i can see the bands even in screenshots. So it is supposed to be a software issue or graphics issue. My laptop have i5 and Intel irisX graphics Do you have a solution @thedisplayguy?

I’m new to all this calibration stuff. I just joined your Patreon and in the instructions you have one for HDR and one for Srgb. Am I supposed to apply those settings to both even though i’ll be having HDR enabled generally?

I have the extremely awesome Gigabyte M27Q 1440p 170hz monitor. Yes it's IPS and not OLED but for the money you can't beat it since it has zero ghosting at any refresh rate while using the default overdrive setting. I have an ICC profile for it, and now it's set up correctly thanks to this video. I've been doing it wrong all this time.

@@thedisplayguy It looks like they went out of their way to make ICC profile installation as obscure as possible. What's strange about it is that you can right click an .icm profile file and "install" it. I wonder why that doesn't actually install it and set it up for use. It must just add it to the profile list, I guess.

Hey, just a question since we have the same monitor! Does your refresh rate on Windows appear as 170.000Hz, or does it show as 169.831Hz? I'm fairly confident mine used to show up as 170.000Hz when I first got my PC, but I'm not sure why it's showing up like this now. Curious if you have the same.

Please restart your system for the effect to apply after making the changes as mentioned in this video. In Mac, its easy to see the changes real-time, however, you need to restart the system every time a change is made to see the effects.

Hey, I'm not sure if it depends on my system, the monitor or the file itself, but I'm trying to edit a .png that I ripped off of my Macbook. And when I view it on my Win11 PC, the color is completely wrong. My guess is, that it's the file that has a wrong profile, because I never had any color issues with my monitor. But how do I fix the file?

@@s1gnex That means your ICC settings are close to your previous monitor settings. ICC is just icing on the cake, final fine tuning on things that hardware cannot adjust or reach. Ideally it should not be needed at all.

Is it possible to install an ICC profile on a monitor not used with a PC, but a PS5. Meaning… can I install the profile using the Import/Export option in the monitors settings app? I have a Sony Inzone 9M, which has an option in the settings menu for Import/Export. Not tech savvy so sorry for the poor word choice or confusing request. Thanks in advance

ICC profiles are purely software on the PC, nothing happens with the monitor itself. So no, you can't use ICC profiles on Ps5 unless Sony adds it (they won't)

How would I know if an icc profile is for hdr or not? I have the MSI Optix MAG274QRF-QD and downloaded the icc profile on rtings, but now I don't know whether I should check advanced color profile or not. It doesn't say so on the website.
