I thought that was a female connector. I was always told it was the inside contact of the unit that determines if it is male or female. Just looking at it, yes, it looks like a male, but if you look inside the metal cone from the other MC4 connector, that is the one that actually goes into this one. Here is some info: The MC4 connector consists of the contact and the plastic housing. The contact will determine the gender of the connector, NOT the plastic housing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZPIkIWAa7WCh7M Here is some info: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKLVfKKBjJyfrMU

The MC4 connector has both male and female ends. I made this video because that’s one of the most asked questions on the chat lines. I’ve even seen people go as far as calling manufactures incompetent, because there was a female connecter on a positive lead. I was hoping to add some clarity.

You didn't clarify which metal piece to crimp on the MC4 connector. There are 2 sizes and you didn't state which one (large hole or smaller hole )to crimp on the end. This video didn't help me at all.

Perhaps I can add some clarity. The female metal piece goes into the male plastic piece. And the male metal piece goes into the female plastic piece. so male to female hope that helps you out
