Outstanding video and one can see just what is being done and how. Great Camera Work. One Concern not mentioned and I hope you have done it now is YOU CAN'T MIX Incandescent lites with Incandescent lites... I hope you have fixed your trailers all other lites over to LED also. If not please do so.....

The light came with three wires. One for grounding , the other for brake and the third for driving light. To which wire should I connect for turn/hazard?
@TheShackHome Жыл бұрын
kimutairop2847 the trailer wire is pretty basic either 7 wire or 4 wire. In this video my trailer is wired with 4 wire. The yellow is your left turn, Break and emergency flash. Green is your right Turn, Break and emergency flash. Brown is your running lights. White ground. The tail lights connect as directed white is ground green to green and brown to brownj. If colord dont match get a test light turn on your running lights test for what wire turns on the test light do same for left and right signals. thoses will be the break and emergency flash.

@user8603 Жыл бұрын
Why didn't you switch the light housing right to left and mount your plate above the tail light with the clear window facing upward? The housing is still waterproof and your plate should be illuminated at night.

If you do this using those crimp connectors, leave the bare wire long enough to cross to the other end - the more the wires contact each other as well as the connector, the better. Then again, why not solder them together and be done with it?

Question, so my existing bulb lighting for my trailer is there. So if I want to change out to LED, with the existing wires will work, correct.
@TheShackHome4 жыл бұрын
Russell Wahrman great question and yes. These are a direct replacement. They should connect to any 4 wire set up. Just be sure to make good ground so you won't have any issues.
@lesfaust96344 жыл бұрын
I bought the same full light package, ,one of my trailer wires were broken someplace, ,,since yours already worked you could have just bought led replacement bulbs for the existing set up...

Can those lights be mounted on wood
@TheShackHome4 жыл бұрын

@@TheShackHome How do you run ground wire there no white wire from the lights
@TheShackHome4 жыл бұрын
@@pastorjuanm.woodson3966 if no ground then you could attach a ground wire to the light or solder a ground wire to a washer attach that to the light then to the wood and hopefully that will ground the light just attach that wire to a ground source

Questions , I followed his instructions step by step & my led lights come on , but will not blink for right or left turn , nor flash for hazard ..please help I have been at this problem for ( week's ) ( note : my trailer is for boats )
@TheShackHome4 жыл бұрын
Montell Williams Id start from the beginning. test the outlet from the vehicle and make sure all terminals work, running light, break light, turn left and right. Then check the colors and match them to the trailer. Most importantly make sure you have a good ground on the trailer. I had a boat and every so often I'd check the ground even if I had to scrape the area of the ground to make sure there was good contact.

I'm converting my S10 into a flatbed and I've got the ones that have the turn signals and brake lights. Is it possible to splice the wires that connect with these to the old tailight wiring harness?
@TheShackHome6 жыл бұрын
Mikhail for sure. If your taking the bed off these will work fine.

The wires that came with my LED trailer light kit are red white and black. And I I am working on them right now to try to get them to work because I have to use the trailer tomorrow and I will be leaving at 4 AM when it’s dark. I don’t know if it helps or hurts, but I am a retired electrician
@TheShackHome5 жыл бұрын
Harry Lime sounds like basic wire. Generic wiring one ground one for running light,one for brake & signal. hopefully the kit states which wire is for what sounds like you have it under control info never hurts you never know when someone else may have the same problem good luck and have a safe trip
@harrylime51475 жыл бұрын
The Shack I wiring for the lights on the lights, the wires were red black and white. The trailer wires of course are brown yellow and green. I went on this site/KZbin/and one of the confident guys with a very nice trailer said that the white wire is ground. I found out yesterday that the black wire is ground.. now the lights work fine. If only my two sons would stop accidentally bumping the lights, breaking one of them. This is the fourth set of taillights I have put on my trailer since 2000.

Put new LED light system. Won't light. Manufacturer's tech says I need to buy a LED flasher. Not enough current draw. Really? Or add resistors in line so I am drawing more current?
@TheShackHome5 жыл бұрын
Scott that makes no sense. LED draws less energy. that's why they are so good. Not sure about newer vehicles. But I have pulled this trailer with my 72 chevy, my brother in laws 03 ford and a neighbors 2012 dodge so i don't know why you'd need a LED flasher. These are basically plug-n-play. Sorry I'm baffled.
@scottengh11755 жыл бұрын
@@TheShackHome it didn't make sense. But my super clean to bare metal tongue ground wasn't good enough. Drilled a new ground hole in trailer frame and all good. Helped to bench test a light to have confidence that they worked.
@payasso6668 жыл бұрын
would you be able to flip them that way you can add your licence plate holder.? and also you know put the left on the right and vice versa. I know the light will be facing up. just a thought..

payasso it can go any way its just what they suggest if you want to flip it and have the LED light facing up shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for viewing.

Not sure if anyone else is as dumb as me, but you need to make sure the ground wire is connected to the metal of the trailer... I had mine connected to some metal on a wood piece of the trailer and lights did not work! Watched this video and realized my mistake.
@TheShackHome4 жыл бұрын
Curtis Nemetz don't under estimate yourself. It's common to think connect to metal for ground but the wood acts as an insulator breaking the chain. I'm sure many have done the same. I replace an alternator 2 times, changed out the battery only to have a friend ask about the ground. We took the wire from the battery to the body some sand paper reconnected it an BOOM started right up. Yes I felt really dumb It happens. Great tip for future viewers. you just never know. Thanks for viewing.

Really? Scared for years to pull your trailer with conventional, incandescent bulbs but not scared to drive your vehicles with the same bulbs. Yes, that same type of incandescent bulb in your "old" trailer lights is the same as what has been in vehicle tail lights for years & still is in most vehicles?
@stevemildge7 жыл бұрын

Good thing you blurred out your license plate. Did your wife tell you to do that? You know it is mounted on the outside of your trailer for the world to see? Do you cover it when you drive it! It’s funny how people worry about the most stupid things that make no difference.
