Always a treat when Mike posts a new video! 🎉 Also, great to hear someone besides myself use the word "schmutz"!

Thanks! I'm glad the video wasn't too schumtzee! And also that I was busted for using these new fangled Gen Z terms.

Run CAT5 or CAT6 cable for the security cameras. Then you can use Power Over Ethernet and have a single cable for data and power. Better than having to rely on a good wifi signal. I am betting that all of that fancy lighting is so you an shoot videos from the attic more frequently.

I don't believe in wires. He says... after doing a video on how to run wires...

Is that " major project " spot in your attic where you plan on performing your stand up routine ?
@MikeTheBackyardMechanic2 ай бұрын
Yes. But, it's a low ceiling. Or, I mean roof. So I can do stand up. But on my knees. Knee up?

Much respect for filming in that uncomfortable and hot space. Great job explaining all the steps for this project. I recently made the same endeavor but opted for a single LED string light, worked a charm and saved me the time and expensive of those 5 junction boxes. I still ran 3 for outlets across the space but saving those other two in that uncomfortable space was appreciated.

Honestly, what I did may have been overkill. Romex ain't cheap.

I give this vid post an A and your electrical work an A- . I just ran a string of party light in my attic, saved a lot of time.

Thanks for the high grades Mr Hiker. But if I hung party lights in the attic I would never leave.

I thought I was the only oddball who installs abundant lighting in attics and crawlspaces. Any project I'm on where I have decision making authority and it involves days of work in attics or crawlspaces step one is to light that baby up, not just for me and the current work activity, but for any future contractors working in those spaces. It isn't uncommon for me to put in 10 lights, all LED 14W 2700K. Very well lit everywhere.

Mike, I love your videos, apart from this one, that seems to be a tutorial in how to get electrocuted. As is said about electricity, you have zero chances to stuff it up. You need to turn the power off before messing with the wires for safety. Not have the lights on as you wire others up on the same set of wires. Please don't 'do a Mike' here people. Be safe and happy. At least, that is what looks like is happening.

There is a shot where I screw in the lightbulb, and it at least looks like it lights up. I honestly don't know what was up with that, and maybe should have edited it out. I absolutely had the breaker off for 100% of the work. I was using work lights with an extension cord to another circuit. Now back to my usual sarcastic replies....

I just plugged a lamp into my attic outlet lol
@MikeTheBackyardMechanic2 ай бұрын
My usual setup is to put a plug outlet socket into the one existing light fixture and run extension cords from that to work lights. I needed more light up here.
