Hey guys. John here with realtruck.com. Today I'm going to show you how to install the AVS In-Channel Vent Visors on this 2014 GMC Sierra. This kit comes with everything we need to put these on the truck. We have our front and rear visors. We also have our Scotch-Brite scuffing pad and our alcohol prep pads and I'll show you what those are for here in a minute. And also, our instruction sheet. We've got our front visor in hand. The first thing we want to do is to test fit our visor to make sure that we're getting it lined up in the right place. We know where it's going to go. We're going to put this in, make sure it fits like it should. And as you can see, that's a perfect fit. So we'll pull it back out of there and we're going to prep the surface. First thing we're going to do is we're going to take our Scotch-Brite scuffing pad and what we want to do is take this inside the channel where we're going to be applying our visor and just scuff it up. And that's just to take any dirt or wax or soaps or whatever off of there so that way we get a better sticking.
The next thing that we're going to do is use our alcohol prep pad and all the area that we just used the Scotch-Brite pad on, we're going to take our alcohol pad and we're going to clean all the residue and stuff off. Alright. One of the neat things about these AVS Lund Visors are that they're not a tape-on, they're an in-channel, but they do have the tape-on tabs throughout the visor. That helps it to stick into the window so you don't have to worry about it flying off, coming down the road or anything. So what we want to do is we want to peel the protective backing off of the tape. We can go ahead and put this visor into the window channel.
And the way we're going to do that is we're just going to start up in the front. Slide it in place. Put it in the back and then slide it up. And then we want to push up on it firmly and make sure that it seats up into the channel really well. Now that we've got our visor in place, we're going to roll the window up to make sure that there's no interference from the visor with our window. And that'll also let us know we've got it installed correctly. What we're going to do is we're going to have to leave that window up for at least 72 hours and that allows the adhesion material time to stick to the channel to help keep these things in place. 866-554-0581 Free shipping for orders over $100!

when you roll up the window you don't look pleased. You also jumped right before the window raised all the way. Makes me think something bad happened when the window went up. Did it break?

Good question Jeremy! If you look close you can see John got his finger stuck in the window while it was rolling up. The vent visor install perfect and looks great, absolutely no problems. Thanks!

When window came up for the first time on my Mom's 2000 Civic (B-day gift) I had that same look. Oh Sh-t!!!!!!!! Glass does not slide behind vent. Hit and almost broke visor. :-( I will have to buy double edge tape and mount inside visors on the outside. Visors are cut too long.

There are vids saying that these don't allow the window to fully close and the windows go back down.. So why do we want that? How can that be avoided?
@Realtruck
@Realtruck 8 жыл бұрын
+tvan718 Most of the visors come with spacers to keep it out of the way of window movement. I really am not sure how to know which do and do not. In the case of Fords there is a bounce-back (that's what this issue is called) fix for this. It is right here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/labUfqNqdrWLfbs

do they glue to metal door frame channel or to the rubber strip?
@Realtruck
@Realtruck 9 жыл бұрын
Broge Kilrain The 3M adhesive tape adheres to the metal door surface on the inside. Once you have them in, it takes about 72 hours for the 3M adhesive to cure and they are held in there tight.

Super late here, but how would one remove these? Bought a used car that has them and I don't want them anymore.
@Realtruck
@Realtruck 6 жыл бұрын
Bobtart12: The In-Channel variety should be able to easily be pulled out as they have very little double sided tape, just enough to tack them into place. You may want to wrap some isopropyl alcohol soaked shredded cotton balls around one end of a small, flat, blunt object (nothing sharp) to slide up into the channel to remove any remaining stickiness from the tape left behind after removal.

@@Realtruck thanks! I had seen people use fishing line on the outside mounted ones but I went to do that and saw that it was inside the window 😂 was very confused and didn't see any videos on how to remove them. The automatic windows always hit them and cause the window to roll back down so I'm just going to take them off. Thanks! I really appreciate the response!
