Did you use a grinder or tile saw to do your top row of tile and your smaller cuts? Also not using spacers does that cut down on how much grout is needed? I am attempting my backsplash and I do not want a bunch of grout lines so not using spacers seems like the way to go. Thank you in advance

One question what do you do when one side of the room the cabinets are a half inch higher than the other side of the room and the tile will be meeting in the U shape of at the sink with an opening above it. I don't think I'd like to see 1/2 inch piece on one side not the other. Does it look bad to cut the first row down an inch? I to am using 3 by 6 subway tile.

What depth tile trim did you use? What I mean is, my subway tiles are 7.5mm deep in the middle and 5mm at bevelled edge, so on the 5 tile rise of my cooker splashback, I have some half tiles (edges of 7.5mm) and some at 5mm regular bevel edge. How do you chose which trim depth?? I've tried both depths and of course, one always looks weird against the misfit tile

Bowing out? Persuade the area with a hammer gently and then skim coat with thinset or wall mud. Bowing in? Just skim coat with a large trowel filling in your area and let it set up.
@johnc12802 жыл бұрын
@@chrisreynolds2410 It’s slightly bowing ‘out’ in two places. Not very long. The only thing I’m concerned with his whatever I’m applying before the mastic, will the mastic bond to whatever skim coat I apply to even out the wall ??
@chrisreynolds24102 жыл бұрын
Yes it will stick. Use thinset that will get rock hard not mastic or use wall compound such as ez sand20 or similar. Both will turn solid and give you a base to go from. Don’t use the whit mastic he is using to fix the wall use a true cementatious type product.
