Great and informative video 👍I just wanna know if it stresses the engine a bit when the valve is closed because of the extra path the gases take but it's actually blocked

No it doesn't stress anything at all, Only thing it does is divert the exhaust gas to exit before the muffler and reduce the back pressure and makes the car sound louder (muffler delete sound). The reduced back pressure make the turbo spins easier and creates quicker response on the throttle. Please LIKE & SUBSCRIBE and Thanks for watching!!!

Hey Buddy great video and very informative. I would have one comment. WHy didn't you put it in front of the CATs? If you do that it makes a major difference on HP because now you have a dump pipe Or straight pipe from the headers down and out? I did this 2 years ago and see about 40-50 HP gain from that. The sound is also amazing. SPELAB is the brand I went with and it is the same as this. Great point about testing before installing. My first module was bad and it sucked removing it all. Sounds insane also. way better than a Hemi. I have it on GL550 Mercedes SUV and 650I BMW.

Thanks for the comment, there is no space on the headers to install this exhaust cut out, I just want change to sound sometimes to more aggressive. 40-50HP gain, That's a lot of gain that you've got from just doing the cut out on your exhaust, Your car must be sounding so good. do they check for exhaust modifications during annual inspections in California? my local muffler shop guy told me not to put one in... because my states makes inspectors check for any sign of exhaust modification. non-factory exhaust is fine, as long it doesn't exceed the decibel meter that the inspector uses... however, if they find a cutout with a remote control, they do not pass the car. strangely, if the cutout does not have a remote control, it gets passed. (meaning the driver has to manually open/close it by going underneath the car) :(

Sorry for the delay, I don't know about exhaust modification law in California. But here in Montreal Canada exhaust cut out I think it's OK, That's the beauty about the remote controlled exhaust valve, you can put back to stock with a push of the button. Hi, If your m140i has a 3inch exhaust pipe, this will fit, You might have to reduce the length of the y pipe to make it fit between bends ( like what I did on the video) . Would this fit a 2022 m340? I read piping is 70mm, with is ~2.75 inches. Most of these kits seem to vary by .5 inch sizes…thanks!

Hi, On my M235i the piping is a bit bigger than 3 inches, So the cut out 3 inch y pipe goes inside the BMW exhaust pipe. In your case if the exhaust cut out kit is 3 inches in diameter and you exhaust pipe on your M340 is 2.75, You can install the y pipe over the BMW exhaust pipe. after you cut the Y pipe, did it still slip over the existing exhaust pipe? the Y pipe I have is flared on the ends to fit over the existing pipe. Going to install it in a few days. did you just butt the Y pipe to the existing exhaust pipe and tighten the clamp around them? I feel like this would cause and exhast leak.

@@edcardiy yea my kit was different the y pipe was flared but even with the flares it was the same outside diameter as the factory exhaust so had to have a muffler shop expand the y pipe even more to slip over it. It didn't come out good so I'm gonna have it welded. It sounds great tho

Yes still holding out really well, I did add shims on both ends of the y-pipe to secure it better, because the y-pipe is just a tad smaller than the BMW exhaust pipe.

I have a mercedes s63 amg and a s550, i cant go Valvetronic's due to needing the stock muffler to keep the quiet silent ride on highway but cut outs to open when startup etc as stock mufflers hold back all the drone, ive tested every single muffler even valvetronics and it droned on both cars for me.@@edcardiy

​@@edcardiy it droned from 1.5k-2k rpm on my 2011 Mercedes S550. (na v8) not the normal drone range. probably due to how the exhaust is designed as its technically straight piped from factory other then primary cats as there is no resonators on it from factory. just cats> small resonators (they did nothing> x-pipe > mufflers. mufflers acted as the main resonators. So that's probably why in my use case it causes drone from that weird range.
