Please change the title of the video, It will help the KZbin search engine and actually get people to the right video. Something along the lines of "B58 exhaust Cutout" or "540i exhaust cut outs". I have been looking for a video just like yours to see and hear what the cut outs would sound like and was confused by the title of the video. I’m debating on this approach vs. a Valvetronic exhaust for my X5. My plan was to get a different muffler with an electric cutout, but I do worry about rattling and possible seizing up from salt/corrosion. With a Valvetronic, my concern is that it will sound same as factory exhaust with valve closed.

I have a 17 x5 and I have a electric cutout since 2018 it has held up but definitely buy a quality one.

@@GIRTHKING ended up buying a pair of Valvetronics… I think the vacuum controlled will be a lot more durable than electronic (have yet to install them)… can’t wait to hear the N55 scream!

Not at all! The heatshield works very good. You can ask the muffler shop to weld a turn down if you like shouldn't be more than 30-40 bucks

Thank you so much for watching!! Much appreciated brother. I wired the cable through the trunk. If you lift your rear battery cover you'll see a black circle plastic cap. You can run it right through there and put the cap back on! Very straightforward ✅️

Couldn't agree more my friend!! I simply routed to the rear cigarette lighter port. If you lift your battery Matt you'll see a black plastic firewall cover. Just tap in grom there!!

No, the resonator exists to improve the exhaust sound. That’s it.

Just got this installed on my 540 two days ago and I hate it 😂. The exhaust valve works perfectly fine and when it’s closed it sounds stock without any leaks and rattles. The issue is that it does vibrate the interior when it’s open and the drone is terrible(I’m used to drone as I had a catless and muffler delete setup on my f10 but with that setup the exhaust noise came out the rear tailpipes then a valve underneath the car). I’m planning on welding on a J pipe to the opening on the exhaust valve to have it point downwards to help with the vibration transferring to the cabin. And no the exhaust isn’t touching anything causing my issue.

Yep just awful way to ruin a sweet engine note 🎵, pipes are there for a reason like taking a flute away from a musician he's gonna look like a total tool without it !

Absolutely 0 drone! Main reason I always go this route. When open and your past 4500Rpm it really wakes up. You then can definitely feel and hear the upshift/downshift!
