How To Install BRP USB on 2021 Sea Doo Fish Pro and GTX

Step by step process on how to install BRP's USB port on a 2021 Sea Doo Fish Pro 170 or any newer model on the GTX platform. The BRP instructions are woefully inadequate and plain wrong in some areas for installing this item.
This installation is for a PWC already loaded with extra electronics and might be helpful in other ways.

Hey quick question why the removal of the back deck? I didn't notice anything being done back there or plugged in back there?

Good question! I have absolutely no idea! I think I was doing something else at the same time and didn't even consider that it wasn't part of the process (that's my excuse-making skills kicking in) 🤣but for all my irritation at BRP for their goofy-ass instructions, perhaps this just goes to show how goofy-ass instructions might come to be? It might have been something to do with the second battery, but I have a quick disconnect, so even that is 🤷‍♀

Oh! Now I remember! As I posted elsewhere: "That's a legit question... it's because I can't reach the second battery to disconnect it without removing the deck. I can disconnect the primary battery easily enough, but that red cable is still hot from the parallel connection of the second battery after I disconnect... after building a 36v outboard battery and blowing up my terminal leads (my temp tape job was substandard), I concluded it's just too easy to ruin expensive parts to take the chance. But you're 100%... a single battery rig doesn't need to mess with removing the deck... just like nobody needs to remove the friggin' audio to install the USB 🤣" I forgot about that when I responded to you (I have two GTXes that are slightly different and I wouldn't have needed to remove their rear decks).

Literally did this job today, watched a different video prior to job, this one after. This is better video and no need to mess with speakers. I always assume the engineer just out of college gets assigned to write the install instructions. Maybe the manufacturers should offer a cash prize for best youtube video! Better than sending customer down a rabbit hole.

Yeah... sometimes they nail it... but usually not. Removing the speakers is a pain in the ass (I removed one before I stopped myself) and I did this video for the other "me's" out there who prefer to DIY/ know their machine. Even the friggin' shop manual says take the speakers off!

Well... I don't know without tearing into the harness, finding the ground path, etc. I've had issues with electronic noise in speakers and radios in the past and so for that, and other reasons, I opted to stick with OEM. If I didn't worry about voiding my warranty/resale value, though, I probably would dig into the harness and use some marine grade heat-shrinks to tap in somewhere.

A couple of questions: 1. Which brand of "connectors" are you using for the second battery wiring (allowing ease of removal of deck)? 2. Are you using a VSR or ACR with your dual battery setup? Great video, by the way!

Thank you! The quick disconnect is a simple crimped Orion Motor Tech and the charger is a NOCO Genius. I use a NOCO GCP2 power port. I used cable wrap and heat shrinked all the connections. I am quite generous with the dielectric grease.

Good video. Question. Does the cap for the USB port fit? I have a 2022 Fish Pro. It came with the USB port and cap. I can not get the cap to fit over the USB when it is not in use. The rectangle of rubber on the back of the cap will not fit into the rectangular hole of the USP port.

I got schmoo all over mine and I haven't really had any issues getting the cap to fit... but it pops off all on its own. I'll probably cut it off, anyway... it's already inside the sealed phone pocket and the damned thing is always in the way.

Do you have the part number for the wiring harness that has the USB port on it? I broke my USB port and want to replace jsut that wiring harness. Already have the splitter harness in there.
