So what hold these onto the top part of the fenders? I can see these gapping and separating where they are not bolted on at the top over time. ??

The flare is made for my vehicle they fit but are not pre drilled they are for a 2009 to 2015 Ram 1500. I'm driving a 2013 Sport and thought maybe using a template

I have the same flares, minus the little bolt pattern along the edge on my 2010 F-150 Lariat, but lately I've been thinking about removing them because I think the look isn't quite right, but I've been reading online that quite often upon removal of several months to a year+ after installation, these flares actually rub on the body and leave marks that dig into the clear coat on all 4 corners, has anyone else experienced this? is this still an issue? if its supposed to protect your truck but ends up doing worst damage then anything else that would of gotten on the side of the body, is it really worth it? lol. There is actually a video on youtube from a guy removing his flares and showing the ARC they leave behind that actually digs into the clearcoat, and they were properly installed.

I'd say they could definitely damage at least the clear coat, if not the paint. It's just the nature of putting any sort of trim over a painted area. No matter how well they fit, dust and dirt will find it's way in between the flare and the side of the truck and act as a minor abrasive. Removing trim (these flares included) would be similar to taking off OEM trim or even badges. Pull them off, clean the area, and if needed use a scratch remover/scratch compound, then wax and buff. You won't be able to tell it was there
