does it matter what kind of strapping I use?
@pricewiseinsulation3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question! It doesn't really matter what type of strapping you used, since it is mostly there to support the ceiling insulation until the plaster is installed. We prefer polyweave strapping in small rolls because they don't get tangled and they are easy to staple: pricewiseinsulation.com.au/product/polyweave-insulation-strapping/

Can you put the insulation directly on top of recessed lights?
@pricewiseinsulation4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question! Insulation can be installed directly over downlights if the downlights have a IC-F or IC-4 rating. If the lights do not have this rating, a clearance of 50mm for LED's and 100mm for Halogens, should be left around the light. Any transformers connected to the lights should be placed on top of the insulation. Cheers!

Our recommendations are in line with the building codes of Australia, but it can differ from country to country.

If your going to insulate 2 rooms side by side, the front of the house and the back of the house is a very low roof and cant be insulated? my lounge room half the room can be insulated but the lounge room at the front house is low so there would only be half the room insulated. would it be worth insulating if only half the room can be insulated?
@pricewiseinsulation5 жыл бұрын
Hi Marilyn, Thanks for reaching out. It's important that the entire ceiling of the room gets covered for the insulation to work properly. If you have a low roof then you might want to look at the possibility of getting a roof plumber to take off the roof sheets temporarily so that you can insulate the whole ceiling.

But then does the electrician mess up the batts when he later installs lights, fans, exhausts etc?
@pricewiseinsulation Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. For the best results we recommend insulating the corners and other hard-to-reach areas before the plaster is installed (as shown in this video), and then installing the remaining insulation after the plaster has been installed and the electricians have finished their work. You can watch our video on how to install roof insulation after plaster here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4K2nHZqh6-dnqM. Please feel free to give us a call on 1300 729 639 if you have any further questions.

why do you put the bags on the roof?
@pricewiseinsulation4 жыл бұрын
Hi Andranik, thank you for your question. The reason we evenly distribute the bags in the roof space is to make it easier to install the ceiling insulation (once the plaster has been installed). This method is far quicker and easier than pushing the bags through a small manhole and carrying them to different parts of the roof space after the plaster has been installed. Cheers! @@pricewiseinsulation The confusion is that you have already done the ceiling insulation. What more is there that you're leaving extra bags of insulation in the roof cavity? It's not like we have attics in Australia.
@pricewiseinsulation2 ай бұрын
Hi Drew and Adranik, We might not have made it clear enough in the film, but we recommend installing insulation around the perimeter of the roof, as well as in tight corners and sections that may be hard to access later. We then load the rest of the bags into the roof space. Once the plasterboard has been installed and the other trades have come through and fitted all their lighting, appliances, etc., we go into the roof space, open the insulation bags, and install the batts in the middle sections of the roof.

Australia's house in winter is still cold.

Hi Bob, You're right, many homes in Australia lack proper insulation. However, we have noticed that Australian home owners are becoming more aware about the importance of high quality insulation. Feel free to check out our recommendations for wall insulation here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIG8ZJxjrdObjJI and roof insulation here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqLGZXainqmogtE. Cheers! Pricewise Insulation

no face mask?

Thanks for your question. We recommend using a face mask in small confined spaces such as underfloor areas and inside the roof. Our full time installers who work with insulation every day often wear masks for jobs like this as well.

why are they called "Batts"?
@pricewiseinsulation2 жыл бұрын
Hi Matt, the word "batt" simply means "a piece of felted material used for lining or insulating items" or "a piece of fibreglass used to insulate buildings". We hope this helps.

@@pricewiseinsulation Really helpful, thank you. What type of batt / material would you recommend for a residential ceiling? South east Qld climate
@pricewiseinsulation2 жыл бұрын
Hi Matt, R4.0 ceiling insulation is sufficient in south east Queensland, however upgrading to R5.0 or R6.0 ceiling insulation will achieve better thermal results. We've been closed in Queensland for several months due to the major stock shortages, however we will be re-opening within the next couple of weeks. If you would like a custom quote before then, please send an email to sales@pricewise.com.au and we'll do our best to assist you. Cheers!
