Questions - Bottom of outer cover/face-plate has spot for 2 screws but the screws did not come with the unit. The video at time mark 1:32 shows the screws holes in the lower cover, but does not show removal or, later, installation of the screws. Are these screws not used anymore? Thanks.

ChargePoint, can you please make the install template available for download.

Due to variances between printers, companies like ChargePoint do not provide installation templates for download. There's no way to ensure specification and measurement accuracy.

If you misplaced the installation template just guesstimate where you want the top hole which will act as a hook. Once that's done put the chargepoint home flex on it. Make the marks with a pencil for the other two holes. Take it off, drill the holes and you should be good to go. Hope this helps.

My electrician ran a 6/3 copper with ground. 4 wires. Can that be used to hardwire this?
@someusername121
@someusername121 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you just don't use the neutral (white) wire and leave it capped off with a wire nut + electrical tape. It's really common to run 6/3 wire (4 wires) so it can be converted to a 14-50 outlet. If you only run 6/2 (3 wires), it can only become a 6-50 outlet. It's basically the same effort either way so might as well run 6/3.

My charger is flashing alternate yellow and purple. I can't find anywhere online that says purple is even a colour option. Does anyone know what this means and how to fix it? Thanks!

Does it require a GFCI breaker in the main panel or the charger already has a GFCI protection??
@ChargePointnet
@ChargePointnet Жыл бұрын
External GFCI may conflict with internal GFCI (CCID). For hardwired installations, use a non-GFCI circuit breaker, see more info here: chargepoint.ent.box.com/v/CPH50-HomeFlex-DS-EN-US

Do the cables need to come into it from the wall or can they come in from underneath via a conduit ?
@joeybagadonuts1206
@joeybagadonuts1206 Жыл бұрын
If you are hard wiring it, the cable can come in from underneath, or from the back (in the lower left hand side of the unit when looking at it straight on.

Why doesn't charge point recommend plugin for 30 AMP breaker?
@ChargePointnet
@ChargePointnet Жыл бұрын
Plug-in installation using the NEMA 6-50 or 14-50 plug only works with the 32A (40A breaker) and 40A (50A breaker) amperage settings. All other amperage settings require hardwired installation. For 32A or 40A options, using the plug makes it easier to un-install if you move. You must use a weatherproof NEMA receptacle to install Flex with a plug-in installation outdoors. Can the ground wire be 12awg and 2 - 6 awg for L1 & L2?
@Gruntled2001
@Gruntled2001 Жыл бұрын
Nope,,, Table 250.122: 25-60A - 10 AWG copper. 70-100A - 8AWG. Unless you are in Canada, then it might be OK. Check with CEC.

I am confused. I understand that the Home Flex can only accept 6 AWG in the terminals but it takes 2 AWG for an 80A circuit? Doesn’t the limit of wire size effectively limit the input to the device because of building code? I am building a home now and really want to know what I need to do to get the 80A advertised but after talking to support I don’t believe it’s possible so either I’m mistaken or the marketing is misleading.

ChargePoint doesn’t support charging at 80 amps. If you have a car that can accept that (I think only a few Tesla models do) you may want to get something else, I recently installed this in my home, our electrician ran a 4 wire capable of delivering 80-85 amps to a junction box in the garage, and then tapped the junction box with a 6 wire to deliver the max 50 amps to the ChargePoint. In the future, if faster charging is available for my future car, I can always change my charger or add a new one. Hope that helps!

And while the circuit is used with 6 ga wire and a 50 A terminal device, you must use a 50 A circuit breaker regardless of the bigger wire upstream. Always protect a circuit as defined by its weakest link!
@jmangus83
@jmangus83 2 жыл бұрын
To run 50amp continuous, you would need at least a 60amp circuit. Problem is max awg the chargepoint accepts is 6awg, which only handles 55amps. Would need 4awg which can safely handle 70 amps to run a 60amp circuit.
@rscottalex
@rscottalex 2 жыл бұрын
@@jmangus83 that's bunk . . .you size the wire for the ampacity of the device, and the breaker is sized for ~ 125% (of the device [probably the receptacle rating]). The only real concern is that you need to look at the termination rating of the devices, so that even if you have 90C wire, you likely need to use the 75C or 60C column of the ampacity chart.
@Abrandnew3
@Abrandnew3 10 ай бұрын
# 6 wire at 48 amps x125% would be a 60 amp breaker. #6 is rated at 75 amps at 90c and 65 amps at 75c
