Thank you very, very much. one small orientation of the plastic insert made the whole difference for me. I spent hours and hours trying to identify why it was leaking and it seems like the plastic sleeve’s tapered one should face the end of the tube. That fixed it. Thanks again!

This solved my issue, my package came with the brass compress sleeve tapered identically on both ends, I needed to use the plastic one with the tapered side facing inwards. Thanks

This literally happened to me tonight. Happy to be wiser now!

This is correctly done. Note the direction of the Delrin sleeve. The tapered side towards the end of thd tube, the bulky side toward the nut. You want the Delrin to wedge into the brass fitting. Also, fully insert the tubing into the compression fitting before tightening the nut. It wasn’t clear if that was done in this example but it looked good enough.

Thank you so much for this clarification. I did this a couple of times and it was leaking and I saw your comment and I wasn’t pushing the tube far enough into the compression fitting. Once I corrected that, not a drop. Thanks!

Could have been clearer on the direction of the sleeve …….not good if it’s the wrong way round …most people would go the other way as you would if there were a ring involved .Put yourself in the shoes of the amateur when making these presentations ……nice effort thank you .

If you put a little dab of dish soap on the brass insert it will slide right in the tubing.

You can use a brass ferrule (sleeve, olive) on plastic tubing, but you must use the insert provided and not over tighten. The brass ferrule type is not tapered, but is symmetrical . The insert is pictured in the video and is the piece which is pushed INTO the plastic tubing.

Do I need a plastic ferrule when I'm using plastic tubing? The package I bought had a brass ferrule and the tube still slides out no matter how hard I tighten it. Thanks

Thank you for saving me 😊. I was missing the plastic ferrule that I had taken off from the old set up. I put it like you showed and the tubing stopped popping off.

Just a heads up, i bought a packet with that metal insert at Depot and it was slightly too big. A plumber gave me one that is a fraction smaller but fits into my water tube a lot better. Not sure what to look for on the packaging.

Does the brass insert need to be a glove fit? I’m doing these steps and it’s not staying connected and I swear I bought all the right sizes but something doesn’t seem to be lining up. 3/8 inside diameter tubing and 3/8 outside diameter brass insert but it seems loose

I'm having the same issue. How'd it go for you? anyone with more experience have any input?
@HabAnagarek3 жыл бұрын
My Brasscraft compression shutoff valves say in the online info: "On PEX 3/8 in. OD and smaller, use plastic compression sleeve. On tubing larger than 3/8 in. OD, use brass compression sleeve w/stainless steel tube insert." So I'm going by that on my Delta faucet lines.

Thanks 👍 this worked for me. Definitely need 2 wrenches and I used some Teflon for a tighter seal

I was looking out for someone to comment on teflon tape, vid doesn't exhibit this and it's a must for a tighter 'no' leak seal.

Can you please tell me the make of compression fitting you used. I bought an Everbilt which didn''t include the small washer and maybe as a result of this had a very small leak over time. I would like to try the one you have in the video.

Just bought one of these today, don't know if you have 1 nearby you but at Lowe's it was called a delrin fitting. Tiny little thing found over in the plumbing section near all of the pex pipe connectors..
