Good video, Should maybe mention that the first bolts needing remove are easy to strip when breaking loose, and easy to break off when over-tightening. Also oil will leak if not tight enough… u made it look too easy lol ❤

The 'sharp' side is just the stamping process, they don't bother to smooth off the sharp edge that is left, typical with stamped out pieces. (metal trivia lol)

How do the plates come from the factory, Round side or flat side out/up?
@laszloernofy93034 жыл бұрын
I would like advice on a KTM clutch. 2012 EXC. I’m changing oil for the fourth time and my clutch is still sticking. I used to drive Motul 710 2T, now I tried Motul 5100 10W40, 15W50, Motul Transoil Expert 10W40 (that was the best but not perfect) and now Motorex 4T 10W40 as well. It can be easily emptied, but it carries the engine with the clutch retracted and disassembles it into a gas splash. I put the clutch on its atoms for the second time, which I see: Springs length 40.85mm, factory value min. 42.5 -43mm Push rod length 192mm, factory value 199mm (I think it is written in your book, because I think the clutch would not work at all with a 7mm diff) Wear lamellas have a uniform thickness of 2.85 mm, factory value min. It would be 2.6mm, and the factory new one would be 2.7mm (I think it could be a spelling here too) Metal slats uniformly 1.3mm all in all. With 240 and 320 papers, I completely sanded them all off, as if they were new and straight as well. The clutch basket is not tucked in, but the needle roller underneath is minimally hanging, no sound yet. I would be very grateful if someone could help solve the mystery, what could be the problem ??

what kind of bike do you have? i had a ktm the basket came out before the inner clutch cover but on my honda you have to take the inner cover off, then you remove the lock from the big nut in the middle and take it off the hub and basket come out with some washers and shit, keep track of them, put it in how you took it off and look up the torque specs on the nut

How do I know that I have to rebuild the clutch? I am quite new to MX and I was recently rebuilding a 02 YZ 250 and I love the bike. But I got some clutch problems - means: Sometimes even if I use the clutch lever, it seems hard to shift. I think the clutch hasnt been rebuild for ages (one of the few parts I didnt rebuild). And another question: If the basket has some grooves - can I simply take a smooth rasp and remove the sharp grooves, instead buying a new basket? Thank you! Btw... thank you very much for all you videos - they helped me alot while rebuilding this old (but very nice) bike :) Greetings!

@bikebandit8 жыл бұрын
+γιωργος μαυροειδης Hey there, All versions of the Kriss motorcycles have a traditional 4-speed transmission. Your clutch internals should be very similar to what you see in this video. Any motorcycles that have a multi-plate clutch system will be right along the same lines too.

in my clutch 2 discs were cracked or smashed into pieces! I'm just wondering why. Maybe you have some idea or you have seen it to. Other discs were perfect. I replaced all the discs. Now when i sometimes release the clutch to do a wheelie it sometimes makes some scratching noise. I put in the discs dry. Maybe thy are not oiled so well and still dry. Anyway i will keep riding and i hope they will be oiled.
@bikebandit8 жыл бұрын
Hi Farmboy, There could be many factors as why the disk would crack, without seeing and knowing the history it would be virtually impossible to tell. It could be as simple as those were the weakest ones in the pack. As for the new disks, make sure you follow the install instruction to the letter, clutches can be very temperamental if not installed and broken in properly!
@farmboyenduro89918 жыл бұрын
That was the problem of that noise. I didn't install them in correct order. 2 of the discs were different. One had to be at the begining and the other at the end. Everything is now fine

Hey! I have a Yamaha TTR 125le and it won't shift. Do you have any idea what could be wrong with it? It just stays in neutral even when i can hear it shifting gears.
@texasmusicfan0311 жыл бұрын
Your adjustment is probably too tight, loosen the adjustment up by your clutch lever to where you have a quarter to half inch play in the lever itself. Having it too tight can leave the clutch slightly disengaged therefore not have the proper grip. You will burn the clutch up fast if you leave it that way.

@509fmx98 жыл бұрын
+BikeBandit the motor is currently out of the bike on my work bench. the bike sat for a while causing the plates to stick.so i opened the clutch cover and found the last clutch plate before the pressure plate has chipped. but when the motor was in the bike before removal and it was off i shifted into first gear and its stuck. the the foot shifter will not click up, down, or back into neutral. so i took the motor out and put it on my bench now i cant get the bolts that hold the pressure plate to loosen without all the gears rotating and moving the piston up and down.

QUESTION! I have a 2005 Honda 250 can it still be competitive against today's bikes? If so what mods can I make to help improve the performance?

+BikeBandit Crf250r sorry*
@bikebandit8 жыл бұрын
+elijah feldman Hey EF, Absolutely you can be competitive on your '05 compared to a '16. The difference in horsepower and weight between the two bikes is minimal. The best component to improve performance on, is actually YOU as the rider. 95% of riders on 250F's can't actually use all of the power. Get yourself more comfortable at speed, and most importantly on the brakes. Put on a new set of tires, bleed your brakes, and adjust the suspension to your weight, and you'll be surprised at how fast a 250F can be. Anyone can go fast in a straight line. Practice keeping corner speeds up, and getting hard on the brakes, as that is where races are won. Thanks for watching our videos and the question. You're a subscriber to our channel, right? Ride safe. BB.com!

+BikeBandit wow! Thanks bike bandit I was beginning to lose faith in my ole beater. Thanks for the tips! And quick response. Like and shared 👌👌
@bikebandit8 жыл бұрын
+elijah feldman Hey EF, When it comes to your "beater", maybe it just needs a freshening up? How many hours on your top end? Although now we're starting to talk some serious money, if it doesn't leak or consume oil, try to do the more inexpensive mods first. Sometimes we forget that we as the rider is the most crucial component in the equation. Remember that it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. Thanks for the like and the share, and we assume that you're subscribed too. OK, now go out there and have fun on your motorcycle. Ride safe. BB.com!

@bikebandit10 жыл бұрын
Jonathan Nockideneh Could be a couple of things, but either way, don't start it again until you take the cover off and see if you can figure out without taking the plates out of the basket, etc.Might be something totally obvious. If you had a mechanic do the work, take it back.
@jonathannockideneh403810 жыл бұрын
Okay I was told it's a difference with the material using a billet steel instead of aluminum but I'll look into it
@bikebandit10 жыл бұрын
Jonathan Nockideneh Clutch baskets don't usually knock. Clutch noise usually chatters when new plates are used in old baskets, and the teeth/fingers have grooves that hinder the smooth movement of the new plates. Depending on the basket and/or clutch kit that you put in, some them advise against using a full synthetic oil. Keep us posted though for sure please.
