I too was having the issue where I would get "You've encountered an unspecified error, etc". You have to use the 4gb patch for "Medieval2" and for "Kingdoms", no only for "Kingdoms" If anyone needs help explaining this further just let me know.

Possible solution for people not able to launch the mod. You also need to use the 4gB patcher on the medieval2 exe as well as the kingdoms one. I only did kingdoms at first and got the same problem others were having, but doing that fixed it.

Hey TSJ! I did all of this and the patch was installed successfully. I did not get a TESTW launcher. Instead, I have a data folder and a "The_Elder_Scrolls" batch file which opens the normal Medieval II launcher. Any idea on what I did wrong?

Hi TSG: Alright so I just uninstalled M2 and reinstalled (Steam) and installed the new version of the mod (I had used previous versions) and the patch, I also have a kingdoms.exe, but I'm still getting M2 running into an unspecified error and will now close. K, so I got into the game once. I've tried everything multiple times. Sometimes I can get as far as selecting my faction, but most times it crashes right after the intro video. I've launched from the batch file, the launcher, run the LAA on both .exes, deleted the events files in sounds folder countless times, restarted steam, restarted my computer, reinstalled the mod. I don't know what else to do. I currently have DaC installed as well. Is that the problem??

I have the steam version, I did a fresh install, did kingdoms.exe, etc. I am getting the unspecified error every time I launch the game. I downloaded the version that included the patch on moddb. I dont know if its already patched? I did the hotfix too, but Im not sure if I did it correctly. I deleted the two items the instructions on moddb said to delete and then copied the patch and replaced the files in the old folder with the hotfix. I suspect its the 4gb patch? What would happen if I were uninstall medieval 2 itself than reinstall it again? Would that make a difference since I’m always getting the unspecified error message when I try to launch elder scrolls mod..

Saron Revan that’s what I would do. Just uninstall medieval and the creative assembly folder for medieval 2 and then do a fresh install

How do u take the 4gb patch and apply it to kingdoms

You have to copy Medieval 2 and then rename it kingdoms. Also do you have the kingdoms dlc? Because if you don’t it won’t work.

TSJ I bought the definitive edition for $25 I’m not sure if that comes with kingdoms or not. I bought it on steam

TSJ yea I checked I think when the definitive edition came out they changed something with how the files originally worked it comes with kingdoms and I copied and changed the name still get the error

No workey. Definate Edition with Kingdoms on steam, all new/virgin install, crashed upon loading the game. Everything done as in this video and so on.
