Open question for anyone who may see it... I have a 2010 Mazda3 and my install of the latest Eonon deck was pretty painless, the only issue I'm having is the steering wheel controls. Volume and Track up/down work fine, but the "answer call", "end call", and "voice input" buttons don't function. I would expect the voice input button to call up the "ok google" when inside Android Auto, but it does nothing. Same with answer and end call - they don't do anything. I'm wondering if there's some sort of canbus settings adjustment that needs to be done or something, but I haven't had any luck with what I've tried.

I have sound from Bluetooth and every other known thing on this unit but radio no sound is there a setting I need to have on?

I did this exact installation for myself last week, mine is auto. I haven't put the reverse cam in yet but will do, your other video is great for that. I have a question, are you having trouble with the it reading USBs?

Like a usb stick? I haven’t tried that yet but it’s been working with my dash cam that connects via usb.

@@D_Spear Yes a flash/thumb drive, I can charge from the ports but it won't recognise them to access the drive info

I would I check the fuse, I believe it’s in the back of the unit, could be bad. Otherwise yeah sounds like it could be bad.

Did you get it figured out? I would double check your connections and make sure the plugs are seated in all the way.

@@D_Spear I contacted EONON and they confirmed that it does not work. A bad design oversight I think because otherwise it seems like a very good unit. Their response was "The original steering wheel control's phone and voice buttons are directly connected to the original car's head unit. Therefore, once the original head unit is removed, these buttons will no longer function. Our unit does not support the use of the steering wheel control's phone and voice buttons." I've also seen comments about poor phone performance re mic and call quality. Is that your experience too?

How do you make these units not as bright. At night its crazy bright. I have everything turned down as far as i can. I know the older models had the hidden menu to change that stuff but i cant find it. I found the 1234 under factory settings menu but nothing to change for brightness. Thanks

Yeah I agree it can be bright at night, I think the only way is to turn down the brightness overall but there might be a way to just lower it for night only. Anyway overall screen brightness you swipe down from the top of the screen, it’s a pull down menu, and the brightness bar is at the top of the pull down menu.

Yeah ive done that. On the lowest setting it's still way too bright. Im currently emailing eonon back and forth for a solution

I cant connect my head unit to the internet. When I use android auto through the prebuilt Zlink. It wont allow me to turn off the Wi-fi on my phone and tether. The unit re-enables the wifi. Any Idea how to fix this

Apple CarPlay and android auto both use WiFi and Bluetooth to wirelessly connect, I would try removing the Eonons WiFi address from your phone and also Bluetooth as your phone connects to the radios WiFi hotspot to use android auto. Then you would have to use wired android auto. I don’t think you will be able to use wireless android auto and also tether.

I somehow put a pattern lockscreen on the head unit when I logged into the native Google on the head unit. Any idea on how to remove it?

Sounds like you previously had a Lock Screen setup on a difference device in the past and it’s likely reusing the old lock pattern. Does that sound familiar to you?

@@D_Spear no. When I logged into Google on the head unit itself (not through ZLink) it asked me to make a pattern. Now everytime I turn on my car I have to input my pattern on the lockscreen

How did you hook up the steering wheel buttons to the eonon unit?

It’s all part of the main connector on the wiring harness, came connected to the Eonon wiring harness from the factory.

I have an older version Eonon. A really annoying problem is once you connect with its Bluetooth, the other apps like CarPlay will only play music from “phone call” channel. I feel like the Bluetooth occupies the main audio output channel😢

are you connecting the phone via usb at the same time as bluetooth?

@@D_Spear it doesn’t matter if and how the phone is connected. After connecting Bluetooth, even the original music app on the head unit only plays through the phone call channel

Would you be able to install the Icespring USB adapter into the center consoles 12 volt instead? Like the one inside of the center console storage between the seats? And just run the wire from the center console to the Eonon head units’ USB2 and USB carplay pigtails?

I did this by following this guy’s video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXi6YXRufaqsmZYsi=_OIgHEKiFdXGHqqy It’s a pain to remove if you don’t have the right tools, but I was able to have the two sets of cords meet in the passenger side of the center console and tucked them back in. I went with a USB-c cigarette plug connection to future proof my car down the line.

Hey for the wireless apple car play do you have to buy a separate piece for it to work mine just mirrors my phone and doesn’t do the car play ?

No it comes built in, make sure you have your WiFi and Bluetooth both on your iPhone, this is required for it to work. Then you need to make sure you have the hotspot function on the Eonon radio unit, after that you need to connect your iPhone to the radios WiFi hotspot, it should say android. Also make sure your Bluetooth is connected to the Eonon unit, I wanna say it’s just called Eonon. Hope that helps. It should have done this automatically

Have you had a problem with the phone call quality? I can hear callers loud and clear but they can barely hear me. Any suggestions?

Yeah I do because I have not installed the external mic, did you install yours by chance? I hear the one built into the unit isn’t the best.

I did as well and found with my iPhone, there was better call quality when I plugged in via usb vs Bluetooth.

Hey! I appreciate the feedback and no that’s a first for me! Are you sure it’s related to the radio? I know the pass seat does have a weight sensor and sometimes when there is just barely enough weight it can trigger the sensor on and off over bumps, I wanna say it’s like 30 lbs.
