How to install Fallout 4 VR script extender to work with vortex (2020)

Great video! However...No need to have your headset/Steam connected, just install the Script Extender and the path (as shown). Then put your HMD/Steam on and launch the game from the game folder (the Vortex PLAY BUTTON DOES NOT WORK), i.e. click on "Fallout SE loader.exe", same as you would Skyrim VR. Click on "settings" in the green game menu and at the BOTTOM RIGHT corner you should see the SE running and its version, if it is running/activated properly (no need to use keyboard command).

Took me a couple of hours because im small brained but i finally got it. everything is here that you need to get it working but if you cant i promise you its operator error. if i did not have this tutorial there is no way i would have gotten this. my only complaint is the video quality is low resoloution in some areas and i could not read some of the words when he was going through the files. just squint real hard and watch it 10 times like me. but this video is a godsend!! ATTENTION: for some reason youtube took away the HD quality on this video, why would they do that for? to lower the views? for what!? i am not even doing anything wrong so why make my video not even being able to be followed by others when this the video thats helping them. what the heck is going on?

So as of 10/19/22 the updated way to do this in the newer Vortex version is kind of dumb, but I got it to work. Basically you want to 1) Do everything mentioned in the video up to 12:25 2) Create a new Tool with the name and target location shown in the video 3) Now (here's the dumb part) you GRAB the tool you just made by the tab on the left side and DRAG it to the top left where you can see the Fallout 4 VR logo 4) And now you can set the tool as primary with the 3 dots and launch it from the tool bar and it should work. Just check Settings menu in-game and you should see it on the bottom right.

drag it up there for what? once you set it as primary from the toolbox it automatically sets up on the top left next to the fallout 4 pic/starter.

My Vortex got completely messed up when I moved my FO4VR out of Program Files(x86) and elsewhere (C:\Steam)... it's not supposed to be in Program Files. But, this didn't work at all... tries to load... thing spins, then stops. Nothing happens. So frustrated. I didn't think Vortex would break and be stupid, even though I specified where the game folder now is. Can't start my saved game at all, because FO4VR won't open.

How do I load it from Steam VR Home inside Quest 3? I added as non steam game them included it in the VR library. It shows up in the Home menu but won't launch. I have to physically goto my PC to dbl click on it :/

This was made during the original oculus quest one. No idea how to make it work with quest 3 since that one has AR technology

Why exactly did you do the second part involving vortex? The first steps seems to accomplish everything needed.

So you can start from vortex with the script extender running instead of having to boot it up from the folder. Your mods won't be working properly without it.

@@SVisionary Sorry, call me dumb, I still don't understand, if you have VR SE installed, and you install other mods with the help of Vortex, WHY can't you run it from the folder (like Skyrim VR)? Why do you need to use "the button"?

Nothing i seem to do works, i can mod the flatscreen version no problem, Skyrim VR no problem, but this one just wants to bust my balls lol. Guess i'll mess with it later, i just got into VR and i have a pile of game calling to me including the aforementioned Skyrim and Half life Alyx. That's because you need the vr version. That's what this video is about. If it's regular fallout 4 then use the f4se for regular fallout 4 Use vr version for vr.

open vortex click dashboard, go to fallout 4 vr section, click the circle arrow to refresh, click FO4VR the 3 dots, click make primary, click 3 dots, click edit, at target click the folder and go through these file paths, click this pc, copy and paste this into your windows file explorer bar, C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common Now click fallout 4 VR, click F4SE VR Loader exe. put this in the target section. Next click start in, click the folder in start in section, copy and paste this C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common Next click Fallout 4 VR , then click at the bottom run in shell, run detached and now your done.
