How To Install Ford E 450 Catalytic Converter

In this video I explain the steps I took to install a new catalytic converter in my 2017 Winnebago Spirit on a #Ford E450 Chassis. My #Catalytic converter was stolen and I didn't want to wait months to have one installed by a ford dealership. This was an easy process that only took me a few hours with basic tools.
Let me know if you have any questions about my #HowTo or the way I did something during the video and overall process. From the information I have found online the steps I took are very similar from the years of 2009 - 2019.

Nice video. Be careful getting the cut piece out. My pipe pulled out the muffler and then I busted the clamp and caused a hole on the muffler inlet, but the real problem was getting the pipe back to the right location. Finally got it! Also, I used ramps but added jack stands for added safety

You live in California…I take it, your Catalytic Converter is CARB legal? Is the Cat Converter OEM Ford part number 9C2Z-5E212-E? What are the part numbers for the O2 Sensor & the gasket you purchased? Also, for $970, do you mind also providing the dealership you bought it from? Thank You…Your video was very informative…like the other posts, it happened to us as well on our 2015 E450 here in Visalia, CA.

Nice video. Mine just got stolen while on the dealer lot for warranty work. $1500 deductible, and $4647.23 later I have a new cat. Painted bright orange and yellow and just installed a @catclamp. Hopefully I won’t have to do this again.

FYI, my muffler-end piece was really wedged in there and the tapping on that little nub wasn’t cutting it. So i just drilled a hole thru the other side and stuck an Allen key in it, that way i had a tapping point on either side. It came out real quick after that. (It also made me realize how easy it must’ve been to slice thru this pipe in the first place.. damn.)

However, I will be asking for the catalytic converter before installation, to make some modifications to it. Maybe people will be grossed out by it enough, and wouldn’t want the kind donation 🤔. I will most likely be doing a KZbin video of it as well.

Any luck getting an aftermarket one? I've been looking online but the ones I found might not be heavy enough to handle the 6.8l v10 gas engine. I just need it to pass federal inspection.

Im not sure if that aftermarket converter should be welded on but most are not welded on, just bolted on.

@@realbangbang Finally took the van in last week and the guy quoted almost $2,300 to replace the converter and mount the muffler (which is currently resting on the rear axle). The converter alone is $1,900 after market. Brought it back home without repairs.

Someone broke into the storage facility that we store our Minnie Minnie E-450 V10 about two weeks ago stole ours. Thankfully we live in Washington State which got rid of our DEQ program about two years ago. I went ahead and welded a straight pipe where the catalytic converter was, problem solved! No catalytic converter, nothing to steal sorry tweakers not today!

Thief stole my catalytic converter off my 2001 E350 Super Duty. A week later I tried starting it to drive it to the shop and it won't start. On first try, got a few rapid clicks. On second try, just one click. Is that just coincidence? Getting ready to jump it.
