The water spout on my GE refrigerator is on the outside of the door. The spout is hidden behind a clear plastic support. The plastic support surrounding the spout is very dirty on its underside. I don't seem to be able to take the plastic support off to clean it and the water spout How can I clean it?

My refrigerator uses the XWFE filters with the chip. I just ordered the bypass plug from GE. It's my understand this bypass plug also has a chip in it. I'm hoping this chip will prevent the change filter light from coming on. @@PartsDr

I installed a bypass water filter and everything workes except the regular light doesn’t turn off. The screen shows (not filtering) with the light 💡 on. I wonder if it’s staying on.

The filter bypass shouldn't have any effect on the dispenser light. You could always try removing it to troubleshoot.

I got a bypass filter: WR01X29059 for my GE Profile Fridge: GFE28HMHBES. After installing the bypass correctly, I go to dispense water and it runs for about 20 seconds then stops and says Dispenser is Off. Then it does nothing. I thought it was supposed to bypass, not shut off the water. Also it did not reset the 99 counter. Do I need to do something else?

Check to make sure the bypass is installed corrected and the back is facing the correct direction. If it is installed correctly, then you may have a bad bypass or the sensor that reads the RFID chip could be bad?

@@PartsDr It is definitely installed BACK facing inward and FRONT facing outward as your video shows and the labels clearly show. I will check with the seller to see if they will replace it.

I got my brand new replacement bypass filter WR01X29059. It is installed correctly, but it gives the same result. Water does not dispense and the counter does not reset.

Try pushing and holding the water button for 5 or so seconds

Thank You so much, I was reading through the comments and came upon this answer. After pressing the water down for approx. 5 seconds the filter light came on above the water icon so I pressed that for a couple of seconds and voila! The replace water filter message came off!! Thanks a million for your help. ;) @@Uncle_Red

That is not a complete model number when searching for parts. Make sure to read the full model number from the model and serial number tag on the inside of the refrigerator.

I installed a new water filter but the screen on the fridge is still asking me to replace it. It is installed correctly. The bypass button is not working either which leads me to believe that there's something wrong! help
