The Steering Stabilizer helps to reduce or eliminate the play in the steering, also known as steering "wander," for which some Dodge trucks are notorious. The Steering Stabilizer is supposed to carry the side-acting loads which allows the shaft to move freely and extends the life of the gearbox.

No irritating music with focused video done clearly step by step and spot on audio that explains process accurately as it is done. I spent 33 yrs. in medicine and this is as simple and direct as any instructions I saw in that field. Nice background in audio of birds chirping.

Extremely pleased! I bought this steering stabilizer kit and installed it today. I’m shocked at the difference it made in the steering. Tight and stabile. This is the single greatest aftermarket product I’ve ever purchased. I highly recommend this to all Dodge Ram owners. Especially for those lifted with big tires. Not difficult at all to install. I didn’t have air impact but I did have a 1” breaker bar with a 6 foot pipe that easily busted the 185-LB torqued pitman nut.

I will echo other commenters about what a difference this thing made. I installed mine yesterday, but I thought I'd point out something that isn't addressed in any of these installation videos. When I first opened the box and saw the enclosed parts I thought to myself, 7 bolts, how hard could this be? It took me almost 2 1/2 hours to install, because I couldn't get one side to flush up against the frame. I finally figured out (by a small sentence in the enclosed instructions) LOOSEN THE SWAY BAR END LINK NUTS! Once I did that, everything moved around nicely and I was able to get it flushed up tight.

Hey buddy, love the videos. I've got a 96 ram 1500 with all of these pains. I wanted to ask What you opinion was of going ahead and replacing all of the bushings and end links on the stabilizer bar while you have it disconnected to install the steering box bar. Have a blessed Easter!

The dodge trucks have a track bar and it's not too difficult to find images of track bars for the dodge trucks. The bushings tend to go on them, and the bolts have to be changed out from time to time.

I found the only way to remove the pitman arm is to use a torque wrench. I mushroomed 3 pitman arm pullers by wrenching it bu hand. air is the only way I found to work.is it worth the 100 or so bucks? great channel thx man

I have replaced everything in the front end from the wheel beerings and ball joints up to the actual column. still have aprox 1 inch of play when traveling straight. mines a 98 1500 5.9 gas. do you think I will see an improvement? how much did you see?

Under a special The wander especially on second gen Dodge diesels is the track bar. The bracket in the video is for the steering box and it's a very good investment. Look up Luke's link to fix track bar issues.

There is no original stabilizer bar. If you mean sway bar, this is a brace for the steering box, while it mounts to the same holes as the sway bar, it doesn't do the same job. Btw, get the Prothane sway bar bushings, you'll thank me later. They're like $20. The factory or parts store rubber ones are shit.

What are the benefits of this? Will this eliminate sloppy steering. I have done been up and down with loose steering in this 1998 Dodge Ram 360 4x4. Have replaced intermediate steering shaft, steering column bearing replaced with rock solid bushing, and finally power steering gear box and also tie rods, sway bar links. Front end is solid just has slight slop to steering. What to do next?

Darla L. I just installed this piece to my truck it's amazing. The basic goal of this is to eliminate the pressure in all your steering components. It just takes the tension off of everything and makes all of your steering components last longer plus putting an extra bar in between to make everything more solid. But one thing before I installed this that I replaced, and FYI I have a 98 Ram 1500 5.9L with leveling kit and 33" open country's, is my track bar. Believe it or not when the track bar goes bad most of your other components start to go bad as well. Hope this helps

+Christopher Edwards , being a female here..where is the track bar located? sway bar? we have replaced damn near every part possible in the front end...about to install this stabilizer bar. i have a 96 ram 1500, 5.2 318. new tires and everything. replaced steering box 3 times already. praying for a miracle here as i am sick and tired of road walking and it having a mind of its own. Also i have oversized tires which i am sure adds to these problems. i think the wear of the oversized tires finally took out the front end... i think stabilizer bars should go on dodge trucks from the start..especially if you plan on making any changes like oversized tires and/or lift kits etc.

whats a track bar? all bushings have been replaced. also control arm on left side along with ball joints..upper and lower. pittman arm, idler arm, inner outer tie rods also have been replaced.

Disaster Prophet no. But it helps. After I installed installed one I realized that the track bar bushings are the real issue.

I think it helps save your gearbox over time I think it is a very worthwhile and cheap bracket kit because the gearboxes are expensive.

Paul Landin welp it fixed my problems and i dont have a sway bar no more jerkin the wheel to say in one line no more if you hit a bump it doesnt wander its worth the money fixed all my steering problems

Sorry but you are totally incorrect. I have replaced the entire steering system in my 96 ram and still has play even with the column replacement.

+CCWSig, i am about to get this stabilizer put on my truck. the steering box has been replaced 3 times so that is not the answer... and that play is still there. probably BAD re-manufactured boxes. cant seem to get any good ones. i have a 96 dodge ram 1500 and we have almost replaced every part on the front end. I pray to GOD this stabilizer bar will work. its been ongoing for over a year. a year of road walking all over the place.

Installed stabilizer bar. Hallelujah. It fixed the road walking. i still have slight play in wheel but no more road walking. it was easy to install...now just got to figure out why the play in the wheel...
