Thanks for watching! Should make it track a heck of a lot better

@@TheMoparGarage Hey, it is going well, except the steering shaft is really tight against the steering box, and the 3 bolts that hold the steering box are so tight they won't budge! I've got the hydraulic lines off and the pitman arm came off with no complications.
@TheMoparGarage11 күн бұрын
@ those can be tough because they catch so much salt and debris off the tire. As you saw in the video, I had to break one
@DNALawyer11 күн бұрын
@@TheMoparGarage Got 'em! The lowest one gave a good fight all the way off with that debris. The steering shaft connection gave way once I got the flat screwdriver blade in there. Thanks again for the well-done video!

Nice video man. I had flashbacks of my 94 and the steering (or lack thereof) It's always been flat out scary to drive. I personally like these second gen videos. In fact, you've inspired me to do a video on mine.
@TheMoparGarage2 жыл бұрын
Heck yeah I’d love a video on the 94! The Redhead steering boxes help these things out a lot. The stock boxes wear out so quickly and it gets that 2nd Gen wander 😂…this truck with it’s oversized tires and lift never sees much Highway time anyway, it’s most just back roads. So I cheaped out and went with the OEM style one.

your 2nd gen vids are all I watch. I have a '96 that I have always taken to a mechanic. I picked up 2 '95's that were destined for the junk pile. the both have the transmission solenoid issues and 1 has HORRIBLY loose steering. I don't know the first thing about mechanics but I'm gonna dive in and figure it out I guess....wish me luck!

Do you have video for vacuum pump liquid ram 2 generation 3500

I don’t, I have a few videos on a 2500 diesel that I used to have, but never had to work on the vacuum pump. I’m sure there are videos out there about it though!

Can a bad steering box cause a shake in the steering wheel but only at ceartian speeds? Or do you have any recommendations on what else could cause that? I only get a shake between 55-70mph
@TheMoparGarage4 ай бұрын
It shouldn’t…A shake between 55-70 sounds like a tire balance issue to me.
@dylan02654 ай бұрын
@TheMoparGarage it's had two different sets of tires and rims on it with the same issue both of which were confirmed balanced that's where I'm getting confused
@TheMoparGarage4 ай бұрын
@@dylan0265 that’s odd. Steering parts like tie rod ends and ball joints are all tight?

Is that a 2wd or 4wd? I have a 2wd and I’m planning on changing out my steering box

This particular truck is 4x4. It’s a pretty similar process on a 2x4 though. Pittman arm and steering setup will look different on your truck but overall this video should still be able to get you through it.

Why did you remove the sway bars?
@TheMoparGarage2 жыл бұрын
3 of the 4 threaded mounts for the sway bar broke off inside the frame when I went to change bushings. I still have the front one if I ever wanted to tap the frame itself or weld it back on. But I never really noticed it missing driving so I never bothered, probably because those rough country shocks are so stiff 😂

Could have done a better paint job for cheaper with an actual sprayer. It would ha e saved your fingers from the spray can nozzle.

I thought about going that direction, intense blue paint was really expensive though. It’s not perfect but I am happy with the way it came out!
