An important point is to make sure the oil pump is fitted the correct way up. This was never mentioned. Arrow or dot pointing up. Fit it the wrong way up and no oil is pumping up to your cylinder head and the valve gear.

That "belt" is called a needle bearing. And your stroker is called a piston connecting rod

Thanks for link, the slot was covered by the head gasket. Just couldn't see it. Thanks. This thing is driving my nuts.. I have spark with the plug outside of the engine and sparodic spark with it installed. (used a timing light to figure that out) bout to pull my hair out.
