How to install helicoil in a cylinder head.
So as I say in the video I like to do this with the head off but you can do it head on.

Great job Rob I appreciate your videos , Last year I got into a hell of a deal on a TDI Jetta . I driving them for a long time and I bought a used 02 Jetta and I never noticed that the injector was leaking around the base out of the head . The head is aluminum and I finally had to build a mandrel at work and lap the head with lapping compound . I finally got the injector to seal . I can only guess some one had installed the injectors and did not clean the head and new washers Damn .

Yeah Time-serts are top tier. Used them for years. Basically a permanent repair if you install the insert with the higher heat strength red 266 or 2760 loctite. But yeah they're expensive and not many local vendors stock the right ones (they stock all them EXCEPT the one you need right now 😆).

How do you remove tang if its on the engine so it doesn't fall into cylinder?

I use a magnetic and pick if it not a blind hole

My time sert keeps failing in my head it will drive fine then eventual spin down till the piston hits it and when I use the set tool on the sert to knurl the top over it just goes down because it’s steal and the head is aluminum what do I do I just drive home on 3 cylinders
