How to install Huber Zip System Tape

This video goes over the properties of Huber Zip System tape why you need to roll the tape and proper installation. The Zip system is a great method, giving you a structural sheathing panel that is a water and air barrier. I also show a detail to prevent the all too common roof edge, facia and rafter rot that occurs on many houses and is costly to fix.

Ridge last...ok, but how to apply with ridge venting?

You can either eliminate the tape on the ridge or cut holes into it.

Where can one buy that roller? Huber sells one but, inexplicably, it has metal teeth that look like they will cut into the tape- one reviewer at Home Depot said that is exactly what happened. The one you are using looks perfect but I can't find one like it anywhere.

Their Z roller has impressions on it so you can see where you have rolled but I don’t like it either. This one I got from Huber but you can find similar ones on Amazon.

We have about 75% of our roof panels up, but looks like rain the next few days. Should we go ahead and tape or do you think it can handle the rain until we finish installing the rest of the panels?

It won’t hurt the panels but it will leak, it would be best to prevent leaking into the house as soon as possible!!
