In reality they are all as good as each other, with the Fesstool having marginally better extraction. The quality of the sanding pads and sheets make a difference. The ETS is a better choice for finish sanding.

@@thebuilditchannel8609 It doesn't surprise me in the least that you were tuned in that very small mag. @@thebuilditchannel8609 Yessir. Sister pubs. I was in the DC office and JLC was in Vermont (where it started). - The whole endeavor was a paid master class in exposure to craftspeople like yourself spiced up with travel to various trade shows and manufacturer events that I *never* would have gone to in another line of work. Also, if we ever meet in person, I’m not showing you my miter saw. Feeler gaugec between straight edge and fence? You could probably get a phone book in there on mine. Also, side note: The flattening stone reminded me of an excellent book that flatness is the beginning of: The Perfectionists by Simon Winchester. Mind blowing. Keep hammering.

now I wish I would have bought something other than the Preformax miter saw. because most of those adjustments are not on this saw of mine. like the bevel detent place or miter detent plate. all are fixed or molded in to the saws base ect.

If you have an old Kapex the first thing to check is the two fence halves are coplanar. If they are not in alignment then you can only have one side at 90 degrees. If your saw as ever had a kickback the chances are that the fence would have been bent inwards. Add a sacrificial fence to both sides. The sacrificial fence can then be jointed so the two halves are coplanar. Then adjust using the manual.

Festool falls short after the 3 year warranty, They only have centralized repair center which can cost a fortune in shipping after the warranty is up. Think about the cost of shipping a Kapex back. When you send it back. They fix everything which can also make the repairs expensive. I buy tools that have repair centers in the closest city.

I gave up on miter saws. Theyre just not accurate enough, and they need constant calibration. Even the overpriced Festool has issues with squareness and side to side hinge wobble.

The only problem is, you are relying on a monolithic joint. Hopefully your installer takes their time and gets it right. The constant complaint in the industry is the lack of qualified installers. Videos like this fail to realize that. Sure, in a lab, this is a slam dunk. But does anyone want to rely in this when it is not "idiot" proof? Having to file a warranty claim sucks.
@thebuilditchannel8609

Nothing is idiot proof!! As a builder and a skilled craftsman I rely on my skills and attention to details when doing a job. This video is in my shop, not a lab and I make many quality and long lasting products here. Doesn’t matter if I’m on-site or in the shop the process is all the same. We are skilled professionals, idiot proof is not the level any tradesman man should be looking for.

GREAT STUFF. I was just looking at some aftermarket tall fences for the Dewalt MS, and YIKES! They do help with taller materials (particularly crown molding, with included stops) but these new pieces would not solve the issues you have fixed here. As a possible add-on, I would recommend the addition of two adjustable horizontal blocks (hardwood/ aluminum) which serve as stops for crown molding. They would be fastened to sacrificial fence (toward the top) with set screws/ inserts into vertical slots. I have this same DeWalt unit, and will work on them soon.

Glad the KZbin algorithm led me to your video to rebuke the video slamming Wedi. Excellent! I am still deciding on a system for a DIY bathroom renovation, but having worked with German engineers, actually on the first asphalt core dam in the US, I have a lot of confidence in their grasp of technologies for sealing applications. In fact, I find the US is way behind the curve accepting engineering innovations.

Ex badminton player here. When our very sticky rubber soles were not sticking as good as we liked, we used a damp towel to rub the soles. Felt like they were brand new again. If your traction strips slide easily, it's mostly caused by dust and particles on the surface, just vacuum, then use a damp rag to go over them. Another comment here is to put masking tape on it, press hard, and remove it - which seems to make a lot of sense also. Cheers!
