I haven't commented much but I've been watching all your videos and I must say, I'm really impressed by your videos and knowledge on these vehicles. I know quiet a lot myself as I have rebuilt mine. However there are things like this lighting option you have been creating which is amazing! I didn't believe there were holes in my doors like you showed so I paused the video and went to my interceptor an low and behold, HOLES! I couldn't believe it! I'm defintetly going to be doing this mod! And to think I was going to buy and replace my door panels or even try to find the hardness with lights in them. Do you think this would work on the rear door handles as well? I'm also looking forward to the other cup holder style lighting as well, and maybe the rear part of the center console lighting eventually. keep up the great work!

Thanks for the support. Unfortunately for whatever reason the OEM light holes were only for the front doors and not the year. It could be modified but not easily. I didn’t end up including the rear console lights since it would require drilling and I wanted to make an easy to install kit.

Super sweet. I’m really glad I got a FPIU. Civilian model vehicles always suck compared to the police counterparts. Yeah sometimes they’re cheaper, yet far more customizable. I don’t feel bad modding a dinged cop car into a street roller.

Hey man, just wanted to start off by saying that I love your vids. I'm 15 right now and I'm thinking about a first car, and a ford explorer police was definetely one of my top choices. My dad has a White Grand Cherokee and ideally when I get my Explorer I'm going to mod it to look like his. I'm just questioning whether it's the right decision or not. I also looked at a Durango and a Corvette C5, so what do you think? Also, do you know of any performance mods I would be able to install? Thanks for your help, Stefan

The vehicles mentioned are all great, but I would not recommend any of them as first cars. They will all require funds for repairs. The best first cars are not super exciting but they are cheap to repair and generally reliable. I have yet to see a PIU that did not need at least $1000 of work done before it was a decent daily driver. Not a big deal for anyone making a yearly salary, but for a teenager I would have hated having to drop that money that should be spent elsewhere. The plus side is that it would give you lots of opportunities to learn about vehicle repair. If I were you I would stick with older Toyota, Honda, and Ford sedans. Regardless of what you choose I would suggest staying away from "performance mods" as any worth getting will be in the thousands and everything else is just compromising the reliability of the vehicle. I've got a 2017 interceptor. 180k miles, 5000 idle hours, 9000 engine hours. I bought it for fitting 3 car seats in the back. It's got more space than my focus. If i buy a used explorer console can i make the rear vents blow air? They don't blow but the front does.

Do you know how to enable courtesy lights? I have a 2014 PIU and I have disabled dark car mode but the interior lights do not come on when the door is open and the dome light next to the light knob on the left side does nothing. PLEASE HELP!

It is possible but involves adding the blower and A/C unit and all the wiring all they way back to the BCM and swapping the climate controls to one equipped with rear controls. Not worth it in my opinion.

hey, I appreciate your content, i have seen on some videos your speedometer is showing the airbag light, exactly like my 2013 piu, is there a way to correct this? maybe forscan? also ive noticed your piu is getting great mpg, it was like 21+. I drive only highway with commutes to work and am getting ~18 any suggestions?

It depends why your light is on, have you swapped seats? Forscan or an advanced scan tool can tell you the reason. Changing the sparkplugs/coils and conservative driving/braking habits contribute to the MPG. I also run a can of seafoam in my fuel tank each oil change.
