I learned how important extra wire was when I had a electrician come replace lights at my grandparents house. My grandpa installed everything himself over 20 years ago. The electrician was so happy to see my grandpa had extra wiring at every corner. Made it easier and lower my cost for the service. Now I'm watching your videos learning how to do it myself. Can't wait.

Man. I'm glad that i watched this. I'm just getting started in my landscape lighting education, and this was a great starting point. I'll be watching your other videos as well. Thank you from Florida.

Just want to compliment you on a very nice job of explaining the system aspects but also smart “think ahead” tips. Thanks!

Great videos, Lighting Doctor! I am transitioning from halogen to led landscape lighting. I plan on slowly transitioning my lights. Are there potential issues with temporarily having both halogen and led fixtures on the same 12/2 wire continued to a 300w transformer?
@LightingDoctor4 жыл бұрын
As long as your total wattage still stays under 80 percent of transformer capacity and there are no additional lights being added that might cause voltage drop then you will be fine.

I like the idea of a simple transformer with a smart plug. What simple transformers do you recommend?

I want to install only one low voltage focus light. What kind of transformer should be used for just one light? Thanks

You can use almost any style if you are only doing one light

What gauge wire do you recommend? Can you use 16/2 for 10 LED?
@aklighting82924 жыл бұрын
For 10 LED fixtures you can use 16/2 wire. I would separate it into at least 2 separate wire. So 5 on one wire, and 5 on the other. I wouldn't go above 7 LED bulbs on 1 16/2 wire.

Is there any issue with using a 300W transformer but only needing about 120 watts in lights?
@LightingDoctor4 жыл бұрын
No issues if you are using good LEd fixtures

That actually leaves plenty of room if you wanted to add more lights down the road

Hello. If I have 2 transformers, one for the front yard and one for the back, does that mean I need two timers or can I control them with only one?
@on4acres11 ай бұрын
You would need two timers.

What is the cost using all these lights on your electricity bill?
@LightingDoctor2 жыл бұрын
Very, very minimal because of LED efficiency
