Guys, Do what plumbers do with Teflon tape. Have the roll come undone away from you and start wrapping. You’ll keep the lead edge short and be able to tighten it really good.

Do you have a video showing temperature reading before and after wrapping to confirm it keeps it cooler?

We don’t but that is a terrific idea. Subscribe and stay tuned.

For the lava wrap do you need to spray it with silicone sealer. And if so Is their a color that matches the titanium . I can find black white and silver. But want to keep the titanium color. What happens if you don't seal it ?
@Heatshieldproducts4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment Gabe and thank you for watching! Short answer... you do not need to use silicone sealer but if you would like to... This is directly from our website. --Can I spray on a silicone coating for your wrap?-- "Yes you can, but do not buy an overpriced “silicone sealer spray”. Instead, visit a local auto parts store or order some high-quality engine or exhaust paint online. Don’t bother with silicone that needs to be reapplied every few months. We believe it is a gimmick to get you to buy more products. "

If you have resonators would you recommend wrapping those as well?
@Heatshieldproducts5 жыл бұрын
Yes you can wrap a resonator. Do not wrap a catalytic converter. IF you need to heat shield a catalytic converter cover the top half only with this. www.heatshieldproducts.com/muffler-armor

i have a question, and depending on the answer, it might lead to other questions. the notice at the beginnig basicaly says "dont use lava wrap on a daily driver" but my heat shields keep getting loose, im getting tired of it and want to aim for an alternative aswell as an improvement. should i use your product or is it overkill?
@Heatshieldproducts8 жыл бұрын
I don't hear where it says not to use on a daily driver. the disclaimer is for people who are performance junkies, i.e. for those of us looking for more horsepower. What kind of vehicle do you have? What are the factory heat shields? A common problem a lot of OEM's make, they will bolt a heat shield to an exhaust system. this causes heat from the exhaust to conduct to the "heat shield". Another common problem with OEM heat shields, they do not offer any insulation. the simply mount a piece of metal to a floor pan, which eventually heat soaks and then conducts heat into the floor pan. Instead of our Lava wrap, if you do not want to wrap the entire exhaust pipe, our Heatshield Armor has been way more effective than factory heat shields. www.heatshieldproducts.com/heatshield-armor

also, i've been trying to make an account to purchase some heatshield wrap, but it says i have to wait for the confirmation note to have my account activated, yet it's already been 4 days, and im still waiting to receive the message.

I have a 2010 Camaro SS that I drive all year (snow and everything) 10-12,000 miles a year. Would this stuff hold up to the abuse? I think this stuff looks awesome and keeping the heat down when I swap to headers would be nice.
@Heatshieldproducts8 жыл бұрын
@kjz28 The volcanic rock fiber is water resistant, not water proof! That being said, on a road vehicle it should last quite some time. Off road vehicles have to worry about brush, rocks, and those things can snag and unravel an exhaust wrap. Additional options for you to consider, is the Header Armor www.heatshieldproducts.com/header-armor Heatshield Armor www.heatshieldproducts.com/heatshield-armor Thanks for your feed back and watching the video!

hey man will wrapping the pipe cause rust underneath?
@Heatshieldproducts8 жыл бұрын
Our Lava Wrap is chemical, water, and even resistant. You do not oeed to soak it before installing as they did in the video above. you can install dry or use a spray bottle. Wetting the fiber's doesn't cause it to shrink around your pipe, it just makes it stick to itself better during the installation process. Getting back to your original point, it is water resistant. So the wrap getting wet should not cause your pipes to rust. If you have a high quality exhaust system, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. If you do get in an instance where your vehicle gets into water than is deep enough to soak your wrap, we advise running your vehicles until the exhaust heat dries up the wrap.
@Heatshieldproducts7 жыл бұрын
The Lava Wrap is made from basalt fiber (volcanic rock). It is naturally water, chemical, even acid resistant. Pipe rust comes down to an issue of pipe quality. If the pipes are well made, thick metal, great coating you should be fine. It is less a wrap cause and more of a pipe quality issue.
@sbwzrd5 жыл бұрын
@@Heatshieldproducts so it doesnt cause rust?
@Heatshieldproducts5 жыл бұрын
@@sbwzrd The Lava Wrap, Inferno Wrap, and our fiberglass wraps are all water resistant, not water proof. The only thing they might do is expose and flaws in a metal. Cheap import exhaust headers and pipes might wear early when using any exhaust wrap. Good quality systems will have no issues.

Do these wraps cut down cabin noise?
@Heatshieldproducts6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. Anthony, no sir. reduced noise may be a side effect, but the primary function is heat reduction. Something like our Heatshield Armor exhaust heat shield would reduce more noise than a wrap. www.heatshieldproducts.com/heatshield-armor But again, its primary function is heat reduction.

I dont know if you guys still reply, but would you recommend any hi temp paint or silcone spray on the exhaust or wrap?
@Heatshieldproducts6 жыл бұрын
We do reply on legitimate questions. No sir you do not have to spray. If you would like to save yourself some money and go buy some VHT (or other brand) exhaust paint or engine paint. You do not need to overpay for a goofy silicone spray. Ceramic exhaust and engine paints will last longer and take higher heat than silicone junk and they will work on any wrap, but it is not necessary. Thank you for watching!

2 questions,, can you wrap a catalytic converter? and is there any truth to the rumors that it rusts the pipes quicker on a street car? Thanks for your time..
@Heatshieldproducts8 жыл бұрын
+Waybad .cravens For your cats, we recommend the Muffler Armor. This way you can shield the heat off the top half of the cat. www.heatshieldproducts.com/muffler-armor The Lava Wrap (volcanic rock fiber) is naturally chemical, acid, and water resistant. It is not water proof. If your pipes become completely saturated, it is best to let the vehicle run until the exhaust wrap drys.

We are not sure what size roll it was. If you need help choosing what length you may need, try the exhaust wrap calculator here. www.heatshieldproducts.com/exhaust-wrap-calculator

How long will it last?
@Heatshieldproducts7 жыл бұрын
As long as the wrap doesn't exceed 1200F in temp, it can last years. Don't believe anyone who says the volcanic rock fiber is rated for higher than 1200F continuous.
@comonerleon7 жыл бұрын
Heatshield Products Inc i ordered your product actually lol figured I'd get it wrapped. How many miles would you assume it would hold up? The way I figure if installed correctly and no real abuse is seen theoretically it should last 50,XXX miles, would that be a fair assumption?
@Heatshieldproducts7 жыл бұрын
It could. The two biggest factors are not exceeding operational temperature and abrasion. As long as you avoid those two things, it should last a very long time.
@Heatshieldproducts7 жыл бұрын
Years. We have had the Lava Wrap on two of our vehicles for over 3 years now. As long as it isn't in a spot where abrasion occurs and you keep it in the temperature parameters, you can get years of service.
