Suburban Acreage: can a person just buy higher intensity bulbs to just replace existing ones? Thanks Stan
@suburbanacreage Жыл бұрын
Yeah but there are limits to the output from just the bulbs, so then the answer becomes increasing the amount of bulbs, aka, light bar time!

The factory bulbs aren't halogen, they're simple 1156 incandescent bulbs. Just order 1156 led replacement bulbs to mod this.
@suburbanacreage Жыл бұрын
Ugh, it’s even worse than I thought! Great call on bulb type from a fellow “Mark”. I still stand by my recommendation that if you want bright bulbs, I’d switch the plugs out and go with legit LED headlamp bulbs. I did link the 1156 LED bulbs for guys that just want a plug and play option, but they won’t compare on brightness to an LED headlight bulb.
@markk3652 Жыл бұрын
@@suburbanacreage I bought a set of led 1156 direct replacement bulbs for my John Deere and was really impressed by the amount of light they put out. I was able to mow after sundown(stupid daylight saving time) with more than enough light output. The car headlights obviously will outshine the ones I have, but the necessity of having headlights really never occurs for me. I simply wanted better than what the tractor had, I even installed tail lights and amber side markers. I’m just made that way tho.

What keeps the bulbs from sliding back out of the modified retaining ring?
@suburbanacreage Жыл бұрын
Good eye and attention to detail. They are friction fit into the retaining ring and I’ve been running them for two years with no problems. I thought they’d be loose and planned on a dab of silicone just to make sure they didn’t go anywhere but I found that during my trial testing that it wasn’t needed and I like the flexibility to change them out easily if I ever have a problem. So far so good, should have mentioned that in the video though, my bad.

Great video! Question on the usage. In the past I tried the easy swap the bulb out with a LED style and it would run for about 5-7 minutes then turn off due to the heat build up. With your design, using the automotive style headlamps, does this overheat and turn off?
@suburbanacreage Жыл бұрын
I’ve been running mine for a few years with no issues. The bulbs actually have small fans built into them that are always on when the bulb is getting power. So yes they are installed under the hood and close to the engine, but no I’ve never had failure due to heat. I have links for the exact products I used for mine in the video description. They’ve been reliable for me!

Great video. I hear some people having trouble with LED conversion burning up factory voltage reg. Does your mounted control box come with the deere or the lens? Thank you
@suburbanacreage7 ай бұрын
In theory an LED should draw much less power than the stock bulb so I wouldn’t think there would be any issues. I’m just a guy on KZbin but I’ve been running mine for several years with no issues whatsoever. Hope that helps 👍

Thanks for the informative video. I’m worried about them getting to hot and melting the headlight assembly, have you had any issues after using them continuously for several hours?
@suburbanacreage Жыл бұрын
Valid concern, I was a little bit worried too but after holding them in my hand and seeing what the operating temp was like, I wasn’t too worried. They also have built in fans on the back side of each bulb that keep them cool. I’ve been running them for a couple of years with no issues.

Thanks for the video. I just purchased an X570 but your method didn’t work for my mower. It looks like my bulb has two pins that twist off. I purchased the H11 bulbs and they weren’t compatible with my mower. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance for the advice 😊

I used these pig tail ends to convert my mower to use the H11 style bulbs. It wasn’t super clear in the video, but they are linked in the video description. www.amazon.com/dp/B0859Z2T9D/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_563V2ARVK4WCYQR532QM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&linkCode=ml1&tag=sayt-20

You can connect them with butt connectors available at your local auto parts store or you can solder them in, either method works. Hope that helps!

How did you get the factory ring to snap onto the new bulb ?
@suburbanacreage8 ай бұрын
I basically drilled out the back of the factory ring and it was a perfect friction fit over the bulb. If it’s a bit loose a drop of super glue would always hold it. So I’m essentially using the factory mounting ring design with a retrofitted LED bulb running through it. I hope that makes sense.
