Thank you, Clint. I used to do a ton of riding, but some health issues ( which I am working hard to work on) and long work hours reduced my saddle time. I appreciate the knowledge that you are sharing, and I now know where to go for basic stuff as well as knowing if a bike shop is being a bit sneaky. No offense, but not all bike, dive and computer shops are created equal. You are a live saver.

I'm fairly new back to cycling after many years. Just bought a brand new Trek Verve 3 hybrid bike and wanted to put on my Brooks B17 saddle. I had no idea how to do it, until I saw your video. After watching it, 5 minutes later my Brooks saddle was on, and I couldn't have done it without it...Subscribed & Tnx very much! 👌

My saddle was all the way to the front and want to move to the back. It only has 1 bolt. The 2 metal bars of the saddle don"t fit/align with the channel of the bracket. Only 1 fits but not the other. Should I use big pliers and try to bent those 2 metal rods so the get closer to each other and fit inside groves? I am afraid to break saddle. Please advise.

Bought a Carrera valour from Halford's I wanted a more comfortable seat the one it comes with is rock hard and gives me saddle sore so bought one off of amazon went out to change it just to realise it's this weird thing, I thought it was going to be the old type with 2 nuts it's the first I've ever seen this type of saddle, I take it there's no way to attach it and I'll have to find a nice size saddle in this configuration, how do I even search for this type of saddle does it have a name?

@ClintGibbs4 жыл бұрын
You should just be able to loosen one slightly and tighten the other one the same amount. If the front is too high you would loosen the back a little bit and then tighten the front or vice versa.

On this type of seat post which has a bolt on the front and back, just loosen the back bolt half a turn and tighten the front bolt half a turn. Keep repeating until it’s at the angle you want.

@ClintGibbs Жыл бұрын
Regular Allen key. I have the kind that has a rounded end on one side so you can angle it for easier reach. However you can’t use a lot of work on that side.
@JGalegria9 ай бұрын
Too late. I already removed the bolts and plates because I thought they would be different from the replacement saddle ones 😅
@ertai222 Жыл бұрын
Can you use Vaseline? I don't see how it's any different than any other grease? I imagine you could even use cooking grease like you'd get from cooking bacon or something.
@ClintGibbs Жыл бұрын
Never tried it but it could work to reduce creaking. However, it’s very thick and can hold onto dirt that comes off your tire. If you use it, just wipe it off really well after installing the saddle.
@rainbowbabin10513 жыл бұрын
do you have to put GREASE?

A thin coating on the rails will keep it from creaking

What if the new seat has wider rails??
@ClintGibbs3 жыл бұрын
Rail witdth should be standard amongst all saddles. I've never encountered a saddle with different width rails. If that is the case then you would have to get a seat post to match it.

@ClintGibbs4 жыл бұрын
That same thing happened to me many years ago. Had to ride 8 miles home standing up with a backpack
@floatingchimney4 жыл бұрын
@mr walkway, Seats are extremely easy to steal (in 10 seconds literally) and cannot be protected with a lock. Some of them are worth a lot of money, like the Brooks seats, so you gotta be careful what kind of seats you use on bikes you park in public. Use expensive seats only on bikes you park at home, for commuter bikes use as cheap as possible while being comfortable enough, I suggest you even put a few scratches and blemishes on it just to avert attention from thieves. They can't sell damaged seats easily.
