phpMyAdmin depends on some other stuff to run. It seems that XAMPP is an all in one package to get phpMyAdmin running.

If you already have a DB the credentials are the same that you use to access mysql/mariadb. Try root as user and blank as pwd. For php administration use the credentials that you created in the installation.
