Man did this video save me some headache and grief this morning. Thank you so much!! I've done alot of repair work but had never messed with the spring loaded calipers on a ford vehicle. I'm now KZbin certified :)

At 2:16, I used a piece of 1/2 inch copper pipe as I don't have the special tool, worked great. Also, when I went to the parts store they asked if I needed a "standard" or "heavy duty" caliper. I assumed standard, but later had to replace it with heavy duty. The heavy duty fits a larger diameter rotor.

Another trq video said the caliper bracket bolts are supposed to be 122 ft/lbs is this because ones front and ones rear? Im confused you said 76 ft/lbs?!? Also the caliper bolts 24ft/lbs the other video said 53 ft/lbs why? Same vehicle, maybe the front ones are bigger heavier?

Make sure, before you remove the emergency/parking brake cable, that the parking/hand/emergency brake is disengaged. Otherwise, you're going to have a hard time pulling the cable off because it is tight.

Great video, thanks 1A. Pro tip: when removing the parking brake cable, it helps to pull the caliper and remove the pads first. Then put the caliper back on and use the same technique shown above. You'll be able to rotate the tab much further and get more slack in the cable.

I did my 2019 rear calipers, I noticed that the bolts that you tighten to 76 ft lb had blue thread lock on them and I cleaned off the old dreadlock and applied new thread lock.

I just resulted to cut off the spring and the clip holding the cable because I couldn't get it off. Service Manual says to release the tension which I did when installing it on a new caliper and it was not as tricky, just a little bit.

I’ve found that a replacement for the special tool to take the cable out would be a 13mm wrench slid it over tap it with a punch and it works like a charm but put the closed end over or it won’t work i used a 12 point not sure if a 6 point would work as well

Whats the difference on having a solid roto and a vented rotor?
@1AAuto
@1AAuto 4 жыл бұрын
+Genaro Garcia Solid rotors that have a slightly larger surface and offer better durability and stopping power. Vented brake rotors that provide better cooling and are less likely to warp and fade. Please be sure to replace according to what your OE rotors are.

What a mess! Should have used a clear vinyl/plastic tube to drain the brake fluid to a container to avoid spilling brake fluid onto metal parts suck as the body of the newly installed caliper and the brake caliper bracket. The brake fluid eats up metal hence causing rust problems down the road. Just my 2 cents
