You're one of the first guys that actually showed the proper way to use that tool you can do it with a pair of channel locks and oil filter pliers are all kinds of different things but get the tool don't be a tight wad, just learn how to use it and it makes it simple as abc. Thank you...

Hi, nice video. I have a very similar caliper on a 2011 Taurus SHO and I took off the parking brake spring on the back. I’m having a hard time putting it back on and I want to know if there’s a special tool to do this?

Thanks for the video. I went to AutoZone and picked up the tool with their loan program had the rear brakes on our Explorer done quickly.

It’s much easier to re-attach the calliper to the calliper mount loosely (with the rotor removed) and screw the piston back down. That way you’re not struggling to hold it or risk accidentally pulling a brake hose.

Thank you for the tip. It's much easier to push after having it mounted and WD40 soaked. Thank you Justin for the video!

Thanks for sharing👍 I was confused why my c clamp wouldn't compress the piston 🤔 and figured the notches must be there for a special tool, sure nuff! I was able to get them compressed with a c-clamp and channel locks to turn.

Is this only for the rear brake with the handbrake wire? Front brakes can just use a C-clamp or whatever?

Correct, this is just for the rear brake calipers

just did this, but forgot to check the triangle marks to see if they where up and down before i put everything back together, big deal? or can i let it be?
@becausestuffbreaks
@becausestuffbreaks 3 жыл бұрын
I don't konw. It might just align itself and even if it doesn't, I don't know what impact that will have.
@machucast
@machucast 3 жыл бұрын
@@becausestuffbreaks i ended up taking it all apart again, i blame my ocdness.... but i figured it out, on the back of the brake pads theres a little nub sticking out, the nub is what slides into that triangular cut in the piston, if it is not aligned the nub would not let the piston sit flat on the back of the pad, so it will cause uneven wear or possibly other issues.

@@machucast yes, that sounds correct. Glad you took it all apart and got it lined up. Thanks for watching!

I can’t get the caliper to twist clockwise. 2013 Ford Fusion. Dealer says I need a new caliper any suggestions?
@becausestuffbreaks
@becausestuffbreaks 5 жыл бұрын
If it's stuck and won't retract, then the only option is a new caliper. You can try spraying some WD40 on it and let it sit for a while to try and brake it loose.

You do not need to Crack the bleed. Just open top of reservoir. This adds more work and spill to clean up.
@becausestuffbreaks

I don't think there's a direct path to the reservoir.

Better be careful with Channel Locks, if you bite on the boot, you're gonna have problems...I changed brakes the other day with the pliers; was careful and when I came in, I ordered the tool on Amazon. Price was under $25.00 delivered to me. Next time, I'll have it.
