1:07 with the plastic clips if you put your finger nail on the outer ring and then use a screwdriver and twist it 90 degrees they will pop out

So just wanted to add a couple of comments here…. I installed the rear ones first, and the clip on the bottom was way easier to pop out than the clips on the front wheel well (sort of, unless you know the “clip trick”) Next comment, also regarding clips… I’ve come to the conclusion that I absolutely hate ALL plastic car fastening clips… that said, there’s a trick to removing the clips in the front,and I wish I had figured it out before I broke two clips and mangled two others, and slightly bent one of the metal hole (I had to hammer the sheet metal back into shape… super annoying, but thankfully concealed with the mudflap, so not a huge mess up) the trick to quickly removing the plastic clip is to use a Philips head screwdriver in t he cross hole and very quickly give it a counter clockwise spin. The rapid torquing motion releases the center fastening portion of the clip and the center core that expands the clip pops almost completely out, and the whole clip can then be pulled out of the hole super easy. If you can’t torque the center fast enough to get only the center to spin and release, then use a needle nose to hold the outside edge of the clip and then try giving the center another quick spin. The center should pop out and allow you to pull out the clip in a matter of seconds. The driver side took me about 10-15 minutes and I broke two clips… the passenger side took me about 5 min total, and I got all four clips out on that side in less than a minute. Hope this helps anyone giving this a try.

Can the rekgen mud flaps be installed with the factory splash guards?
@EliasDelvasto3 жыл бұрын
Good question! I’m really not sure actually. I haven’t seen anyone put them on with the factory splash guards. I haven’t tried it myself but since I can’t find anyone who has done it I am assuming you can’t.

Great video. Plan on ordering the RekGen mud flaps for my Crosstrek next month. How are you liking them? Also do you notice any rubbing with the stock tires?
@EliasDelvasto3 жыл бұрын
That’s great! So far I still have no complaints. I didn’t notice any rubbing with the stock tires when I had them on the car but shortly after getting the mud flaps I changed wheels and tires. Still no rubbing with the new set up either. If you’re asking specifically about the stock tires then I can say that I drove several hours of mixed driving (on road driving) with the stock tire and rek gen mud flap combo and didn’t have any issues. I recently did some light off-roading with the aftermarket wheels and tires and still had no rubbing issues. All in all I haven’t heard any rubbing and they have done their job well from what I can tell

@@EliasDelvasto Glad to hear that and thank you for the reply. Keep up the great videos.

So for the back I used the existing metal clips and bolts with the provided washer instead of the plastic clips and screws. Do you think this will be an issue later down the road?
@EliasDelvasto2 жыл бұрын
Hmm good question. I’m not entirely sure but I imagine it would be fine. As long as it all feels secure then I would think that it would hold well. The hardware from RekGen is designed to work with their mud-flaps so that’s the sure fire way to do it but I don’t see anything wrong with your method
@Clambert912 жыл бұрын
@@EliasDelvasto I have been checking every few days and it seems to be doing fine, i might cover the bolts with rtv to "hold" it in place.

So on their website it says 18+, the stock on the crosstrek ( at least mine) are 17... is this a problem or no?
@EliasDelvasto3 жыл бұрын
I’m assuming we are talking about wheels size and if so then you are correct. The Crosstrek comes stock with either 17in or 18in wheels. The wheels that I put on are 15in but since the tires are thicker than the stock ones the overall diameter is almost identical
@thespig133 жыл бұрын
@@EliasDelvasto so on the rek gen website, it says 18+ on the cresstrek, i was thinking that meant wheel size but after researching more its the year! Huge blonde moment lol but these flaps should work on stock height and wheels correct?
@EliasDelvasto3 жыл бұрын
OH! I was confused by your question. We were both confused really. HA! Yes! The mud flaps would work on stock wheels and ride height. There were a few days that I had the mud flaps on the car with stock everything while I was waiting for my wheels to come in.

My 22 sport just arrived and they did not fit 🙃
@EliasDelvasto2 жыл бұрын
Really?? I’m surprised. RekGen lists them for 2018 - present Crosstrek. I’ve also seen reviews that say they fit the 2021 Sport. What makes the 2022 different I wonder?
@micaht2192 жыл бұрын
On the front, the fender liner is one hard piece that doesn’t pee back to install the clips. My car didn’t even come with splash guards, not sure why. There are holes for them on the rear tho but only 2, the Rekgens have 3 so I was able to mount them but there’s nowhere to screw in the bottom hole so it just flaps.
@EliasDelvasto2 жыл бұрын
Splash guards were optional from the factory so your car might not have had them. As for the back, did you use the metal bracket that RekGen includes? I think it’s so strange that the 2022 is different
@micaht2192 жыл бұрын
I ended up just getting some anchors with some screws and drilling some holes haha problem solved. Also I’m not particularly good with this kind of stuff so I may be wrong. I’m anxious to see other people’s POV with the 22
