I used those tech specs. After 3 years they have started to leave heavy black marks on my pants. It's time for them to go. I'm glad to see they are easy to remove.

Do grip pads stick over vinyl wrap? It seems like a bad idea, but I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised that that's doable.

How would one remove the outer sticker cover of the rubber knee grip of a W650 petrol tank?

How long were those on before you peeled them off?

I know this is late, but I just had to remove the Tech Spec pads from my tank because dirt got behind them and ruined the adhesion. I am able to get all the adhesive off of the pad with my heat gun and some rubbing, and I want to know the best way to reinstall them. I nave been told contact cement would work, but it sounds overkill. I went looking for 2 sided tape sheets and see lots of different choices. Does anyone have first hand experience replacing the adhesive on these pads and if what what did you use and is it working or do you regret it?

Did you ever get an answer to this? How did you go reapplying the pads?

@@andreweast743 Once I got all the old adhesive and backing off the pads, I cleaned them thoroughly with alcohol and bought this from Amazon.... 3M 468MP Adhesive Transfer Tape Sheets 12" x 12". Peeled the backing off of 1 side of the sheet, stuck it firmly to the pad, then used a razor knife to trim the excess to the exact shape of the pad. From there it was a simple matter of cleaning the tank, removing the backing from the tank-facing side and applied. Worked perfectly.
