The driver's door glass on my Jetta slipped out of the pinch clamps after a hard Chicago freeze. The regulator survived so I didn't need any parts. Since the lame plastic clips in mine were broken and the window fell down (of course it was raining cats and dogs and I had to drive on the freeway for 30 miles), I had to fix it ASAP. Thanks so much! Just helped replace the regulators in both front doors of a friend's '03 Jetta Sportwagen. The driver's side window had taken a dive last weekend, and once I got everything unscrewed on the passenger's side the motor mount on the old regulator just fell off. Good timing!

@Ahmed Elmisry To get the window out of the door it would need to be disconnected from the window regulator. Remove the regulator too, and then you should be able to tilt the window in the door and remove it.

@Bartholomeo Puglia If the cable on the window regulator broke, you would need to replace the window regulator as shown in this video. The way it's designed on this vehicle, is that it's built into the inner door panel. If you click on the link in the video we have them for sale on our website. Hope this helps you out.

Looks like a nice detailed video.. But...before I tear apart my 05 jetta(drivers window stuck down about 6 inches) I want to be sure to have correct parts! Once the interior panel is off can I test to determine if problem is regulator or motor? Thanks,Jim

first remove the cover so you can see the window motor remove those three bolts with the wiring plug in, push the switch see the motor work , then move the window by hand up and down to see gear turning .. but if you want the quick way, just use hand up down the window, if can move a lot that the regulator, if can't that may be the motor or other problems.

That wasn't how you change the window regulator but rather how you replace the whole inside of the door. How do you roll up/re-attach the window wire spool after taking that off? Show me That!

Hi, Nice detailed video. I had no problems doing the job. I also ordered the regulator from you. The only problem is that the window does not roll all the way down like it did with the OEM one. Is there anyway to adjust it so the window goes all the way down? Right now it stays up about an inch or so.

regulator need to reset every time you did, the auto stop function need to reset, go up and down, when all the way keep holding more than 10 second,if not do it again, every model I think are the same.

+Szabó József Thank you for watching. At 5:07 it appears there is a tab that gets released which is attached to the regulator. The tab would then need to be tucked back inside the door panel when reinstalling the new regulator.

My passenger side window fell down because it was stuck on a cold winter day and I pressed the window button down, so the arm went down and the window was stuck frozen in closed position and then fell once it unthawed, but I was able to bring the window back up by grabbing it with two butter knives with tape to get a hold of it, so I brought the window up almost fully, and then when I pressed the window up button to bring the arms back up, the regulator grabbed onto the window again, and now the window works as normal. My question for 1AA or anyone who may know is, how does the arm grab onto the window? is it just a two sided rubber clip that grabs the window? or is there some kind of pin that connects the clip more securely? The window goes up and down normally now, but I'm afraid that on a cold day it may not have enough grab to bring the window down and I will run into this issue again. I would like to know if I actually have to replace these clips, or if I am good to go. Thanks guys!

So the window glass is all the way down in the door no way to get a grip on it to lift it, the drive mechanism is broke and definitely will not lift it up enough to access those last two bolts that hold the glass clamps to the regulator things. Cannot remove the panel. No access holes through the panel to permit access to the glass to lift it up. "Catch-22" dilemma. Now what? Get out a tool to start cutting up the panel into pieces ? Lightbulb moment. I got this, problem solved. They should have put it in their video.
