Hi uhm I have a question, I’m new to reshade and when I installed it it said that there was an error in loading the presets or something? but when I deleted the “reshade-shaders” file, it worked again and there was no message like that again. What could I do to fix this?

Hi , excuse i have a question. when i install reshade in sims 4 , there are always : "Error compiling some effect". I have already reinstalled reshade several times, tried a few different versions and replaced the reshade-shader with Gshade-shader but nothing. I very annoying because the presets don't working. Please help me 😓

Those missing effects shouldn't do anything to your shade preset or game I'm sure just ignore them

I tried doing the exact same thing, and it looks like the files are downloaded succesfully because the reshade files are there in the Bin folder. But when I open the sims, the pop up that shows the reshade is installed succesfully didn't appear in the top left corner. All I want is to make my sims look good. Hah...

hi!! i'm not sure your exact keybind, but on game startup when the reshade compiles, it should tell you which key to use (it'll say "press [key] to access menu" or something along those lines). if you're still having issues lmk and i can try to help troubleshoot!

Alright just found it, i personally have a 60 percents keyboard and the home key shares the same key as something else (mine is the letter K) . You have to hold fn + (letter that says home, hopefully K for you too) and itll open reshade ;))

if the home button doesn't work, it might be a different keybind. upon startup it should tell you which key works

It's telling me that no .fx files are found in the bin folder but they're there in the folder. program files/ea games/sims 4/game/bin.. I can see them. Help? Says it successfully downloaded reshade and I'm not getting any red error codes pop up. Just the no .fx files found. Your preset also cannot be found but it's in the bin folder.

I have a d3d9.dll error it says "d3d9.dll alredy exist, but does not belong to ReShade please make sure this is not a system file required by the game" does anyone know what it could be??

I remember having the same error but what I needed to do was I found the file that was messing everything up and deleted it then deleted it from trash

Hi, I know I'm a little late but I've tried installing Gshade and Reshade and they both completely lagged my game! Whenever I opened up Sims 4, the menu loaded unbearably slow, and whenever I clicked on anything, it took forever to respond! The only way anything would work was if I went in and out of the app. I've deleted both but if there's any way to fix this, I'd really like to know. All I wanted were some cute shaders to make my game look better... :(

i would double check you are using the latest update of reshade as well as installed the correct directx version!!

where do you put the presets so they show up in the reshade menu?

I put them in: sims 4/game/bin/reshade-presets folder. however you should be able to navigate to any folder in the reshade menu. Check out around 9:08 in the video

Please check both Program Files and Program Files (x86) for a folder named EA Desktop App or something similar. I have a windows laptop so i went to my pc and searched program files and pops up then you have to search for the ea games then sims4 then game bin and you'll find it

Sigh.. I love this video so much.. I had reshade once but lately I can't find direct x 9 when trying to install reshade for sims 4. Sims 4 uses direct x 9 and no other. But now my laptop keeps showing direct x 10, 11 and 12. Its so frustrating and I dont know what else to do. Because no video on youtube is having my issue. Please is there anyway that i could get direct x 9?

Is your computer slow w/o reshade? It's likely that your computer just can't handle it. The sims should be able to run just fine with reshade w/o having to use an external hard drive or anything.

yes ofc!! You want to fiddle with the adof (or whichever dof effect you enable) effect settings. on the reshade configuration menu at the bottom, there is a way to change the settings of each effect. Enable your dof shader, find where the settings are at the bottom, and change them around til it’s not too blurry for you!! lmk if I can help more ❤️

I need help!!! please i am so desperate. Every shader I try to use has a ton of effects that fail to compile. It says there were errors loading some effects, and I know its normal for some to be like that, but nearly all the effects in these presets say they are "failing to compile". I tried what the video says and it still wont work!! I've downloaded and uninstalled reshade like 8 times now, it still wont fix. I've used so many tutorials and have searched on reddit + the reshade website, and cannot find a solution. the lack of these effects make my game look blurry and the shader presets look incomplete. IM BEGGING SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE!!

are you sure that when you install reshade it is downloading the latest effects directly from github? did you try the manual shader download process i mentioned in the video as well? if yes to both of them, let me know - i'm going to do some research for you and try and help you figure this out!!
