Ring does a good job of including everything you'll need to complete the installation. My installation was easy and straight-forward. I removed the existing door-bell button. Per the instructions, I made sure we were working with a mechanical bell (& not an electronic chime). If your Ring is being installed on wood siding Do Not Use the included drill bit. That is only f/stuco &/or masonry, using the supplied plastic wall anchors. Electrical connection was easy. Connecting to the home's existing router was easy. We went through the set-up on the Ring app & it worked well on our first try.. I viewed one or two videos before the installation; my opinion is that will help make the installation simple.

You can manually deactivate Ring alerts in the Ring App. We also offer battery-powered Security Cams that don't include the doorbell button but will alert you to motion detections. Batteries are rated for 6-12 months, however, the battery life will depend on usage and how frequently your Ring is used. So from what I can gather, as others have asked this question, there’s is no major benefit in terms of charging the battery if you wire your doorbell. The wiring is mainly chime related, correct? I was hoping that if I wired my doorbell it would charge the battery or provide alternate power. Oh well. Still a good product.
@ring4 жыл бұрын
Great questions, neighbor. Hardwiring your battery-powered Ring Doorbell will help to provide a trickle charge of up to 10% each day. Depending on the activity your Doorbell sees, such as motion detections or Live View usage, you may still need to recharge the battery occasionally. You can monitor the battery level in the Ring App to know when a recharge is needed. Please let us know if you have any more questions!

Hi Peter. Ensuring that your Ring device will be securely mounted to the wall is important when keeping an eye on the events happening around your home. The Ring Video Doorbell 2 is screwed into the wall using the installation tools included in the packaging. If you have 16 volts, then it is connected to a transformer somewhere in you house. Touch the wires together to see if you hear a chime, if not, then the chime is either broken or removed. How does a customer obtain an "8-24VAC transformer" as indicated in your video at time= 2:08?
@XxTWMLxX5 жыл бұрын
Most doorbells already installed have these already. The 120v AC from breaker goes into transformer then the 8 to 24v power goes to the bell/chime a wire from chime goes to the doorbell switch outside to interrupt the + line unless pressed.... My doorbell for example is 18V AC... You can check at your doorbell chime the voltage with a multimeter set to 200v AC.

You don’t need to turn off the breaker. If your doorbell wires kill you, you’ll be so famous it would be worth it. There is not enough voltage to even feel on your doorbell. The lawyers make them say that. If your transformer is near your electrical panel, which is common it will be on a random circuit breaker. If it’s located elsewhere in your house it will likely be on a circuit for that area.
