I would add an anti-slip mat between the bag and the roof to prevent scratches and the bag moving too much

just for future viewers, the mat or protection doesn't seem to be necessary. hard sharp things shouldn't be packed in roof bag because they will damage the bag. If there's no hard, sharp or super heavy items you'll be okay. These are for filling completely full, tightening completely and driving long distances at high speeds. most of the bags are made of a rubber and it doesn't damage clear coat. This is not just my experience but also found in other reviews I've found.

@@silverdropstang as long as you don’t put heavy items on top, and don’t exceed the owners manual roof cargo weight limit, it’s fine, especially with smaller cars. The biggest drawback I’ve experienced is the wind drag on the car could reduce gas mileage. You will notice it. That is my concern using one of these again.

The straps are supposed to go through the loops and all the way over the top. The way you've done it will damage the bag eventually

It looks like the inside strap in front would get in the way of your head when you're sitting behind the wheel, as the strap is riding several inches lower than the inside roof.

You can put the straps between the weather strip gasket and the roof so you don’t have a leak when it’s raining.
