How To Install Shelby Kicker Door Speakers on a Mustang or GT500

Learn how to install the upgraded Shelby Kicker Audio 8 Inch Woofers for the Shaker 500 or 1000 systems in a 2005 - 2009 Mustang or GT500 / GT500KR. I show how to remove the door card, remove the factory door woofer, and install the new Shelby upgraded speaker. All of the needed tools are detailed, and each step is carefully shown to guide you through. This overall was a relatively easy installation, that can be done in under a few hours for both doors taking your time. This in general will be helpful for any installation of new door speakers as well on a Shaker 500/1000 system. The new speaker weighs almost 3 pound more, so it's a big improvement!
Note: It's a similar process but the steps may vary slightly on a 2010-2014 Mustang or GT500 for installation due to door differences.

I’ve had to go with Pioneer subs (shallow mount) and I’m not using stock stereo or amp…Im adding amp in the trunk, do you know why there are 2 speaker wires in there? Does the one you taped off go to other side?

My guess on the Adhesive ring is they want it to be freshly applied, but you're right they may have been able to incorporate it prior. The music does sound good! Thanks for watching AZ!

Do u have to take the door panel off just to change the bottom speakers?

Yeah the main mounting bolt is on the backside and you have to take the door panel off to access everything.

Could u explain why one set of wires is used only , cant we wire up the new woofer like the factory one ? I think only one coil is being used by taping off one set of wires .

I'm no audiophile but IIRC it has to do with the Shelby speakers being SVC (single voice coil) at 2 ohm vs the OEM speakers which are DVC (dual voice coils) at 1.2 ohm. The original being DVC required 2 sets of wires, and the Shelby being SVC require only the 1 set. I think using both sets can damage the speakers.

Shelby sent out an email like a month ago saying, "get them while you can going to be discontinued!" I think this made people just buy in FOMO. Probably sitting in the garage of a lot of folks. You might want to put a post on the GT500 forums inquiring if anyone has them for sale. @@chrisfordyce8420 Yep I think Lethal Performance has front and rears like you said, but not the door subs. They are getting hard to find. However IIRC you can still get other Kicker Door subs that will work for that car, just not the Shelby version.
