Here's a quick video on how to install the Soft Brake rear brake lever on a Harley-Davidson Electra Glide. This product lowers the brake pedal and brings it closer to the floorboard for easier use. www.softbrake.com

I have a 97 Heritage Springer. Tried two different extended brake levers (including HD) and was on the verge of selling the bike because rear brake was dangerously inoperable due bad brake pedal position. Then I found Softbrake and everything changed. Moved the pedal forward and down an amazing distance. Bike is a pleasure to ride, and safe too. Can't say enough how pleased I am.

Great video. I've watched some where they just removed the bolts for the master cylinder and some where they just struggled with the master cylinder in place. Removing the whole assembly looks much easier. Also looks like you don't have to loosen and move the crash bars this way. Hopefully this is also the case with Kuryakyn extenders, which is what I bought. I did notice some people just remove the whole floor board assembly, just two cap screws and you don't have to worry about getting the tension right on the hinge when you reassemble. Thanks for the video.

I've also mounted a rear brake pedal lever from softbrake on my '96 Road King and it's a huge improvement in handling the brake! The model from '94 - '96 has the advantage that you can adjust the height of the pedal due to a ratched bolt on the brake master cylinder transmission lever.

on my 98 Fatboy the pedal was like straight up in the air brake pedal. I have no toes on the right foot I was able to find a older FLH yet newer than my 98 for a touring bike and it laid it down closer to the floorboard ,works great when I had a newer 09 touring bike, I cut or pie cut and bent it to where I needed it and re-welded it. The important thing is to make it fit your body and function the best for you the rider well done 😊🖖🏽

Got it and followed your video and had it on in about an hour. I did take my time doing it. And yes if you had a third hand it would help pushing the assembly bad on the bike. I wire brushed those three Allen cap screws and ran a tap in the frame holes before I reassembled it and it made it easier. Also made sure I added Lock Tight. The people at SoftBrake are super to deal with! Nice people. Also put a brake level on my wife’s 2015 Limited and she loves it! I’m her hero again!!

Motorman nothing to do with today’s video. I ordered some of the purple stuff that you talk about. It works great on the concrete driveway. Going to my spa room and the sliding glass door there was reflective film that I removed today. After peeling off this film there was an adhesive residue. I went for the Windex and paper towels in the paper towels were sticking to the residue. I got the purple stuff and sprayed it on use the micro cloth and it removed the residue. Thanks motorman. So I've fitted three of these so far on Streetglides. The hardest part of the install is fitting the mounting bracket cup over the rubber engine mounting and then aligning the bolts. The first bike I did it slipped on nicely with a little WD40 and the bolts were not too tricky to align and start off in each hole. The second bike was less forgiving and it took some effort to push up the bracket over the rubber engine mounting but still ok. The third bike I've just installed the pedal to was the most unforgiving. Try as I might I could not push up the mounting bracket over the rubber engine mounting enough to be able to align and start off all three screws. I did strip one slightly on the end. I ended up cleaning out all of the threads with solvent so I could easily feel the bolts turning in with my fingers. With two bolts started off in the threads the third could not be aligned easily as the bracket was tilting. I partially wound up the two bolts until I could seat the third bolt and start to wind it in. During the process I took it off and on multiple times to ensure the bolts were not stripping. It was a royal pain. No idea why it was so much harder on this 2022 CVO. I did search on KZbin and there is a video of the install being done without removing the bracket. It requires a little dexterity, some needle nose pliers and the bike was up on a lift. I might try this next time after this experience.

What I found was that on some bikes H.D. uses way too much thread lock. I had to heat the bolts with a torch to get them out then put some heat and solvent into the threads and clean them with a steel brush to get the bolts back in without cross threading.

If you’re referring to the collars on the engine guard, I can tell you they work from personal experience. I just wish I had video taped the motor officer training I took so you could see. I dropped/crashed the bike all day for 8 days out of a 10 ten class until it “clicked” for me. Those collars took such a beating that they had to rotate them by the end of the first week, they work!
