Looks great! With our Landscape company we would have charged about $5000 for the putting green, $3000 for the concrete and $2000 for the soil and sod at least. Total job would have probably worked out to $15,000 after calculating overhead and margins. With a larger company though, you have higher overhead you have to factor in as well. When I first started with a small pickup truck we could charge less and make more margins because we were smaller.

@johnlyn15 жыл бұрын
Of course you can save money doing it yourself, although if you don't own the tools and equipment needed then you'll have to buy all that to do the job yourself. Depending on the tools and equipment needed it could cost you more to do it yourself unless you will have a lot of future use for those tools and equipment. If not then it may not be feasible to do it yourself and cheaper to pay to have it done. Most people don't have the know how, don't want to have the know how and have no desire to try and do it themselves.

You didn't actually profit $4,000. You have to take out for your labor then whatever is left over is the actual profit. Your labor isn't free. The company itself needs to make a profit. If you take all the money for yourself then the company made zero and broke even. Should figure in at least 20% profit for the company after paying yourself. So if the total bid for the job is $8,250 you allow for 20% of that for profit for the company, which would be $1,650. That would leave $2,350 for yourself and your partner, leaving you each with $1,175. $1,175 for you, $1,175 for your partner, and $2,350 profit for the company. Remember, whatever you pay yourself for your labor is not profit. That is cost. If you didn't do the labor yourself you would have to pay someone else to do it. Labor is cost and you have to deduct your labor as a cost and whatever is left after paying for all material, expenses and your labor, is the profit.

I think you have more a bit more overhead than you mentioned, with the cost of gas and other vehicle expenses, as well as licensing, bonding/insurance, business permit, taxes, factored in, etc... But you deserve the money that you make. And kudos for explaining the costs/profit to us. I like #3 logo the best. I don't like the crown on the first one, the house design makes the logo appear "lengthy" on the second, and the third logo is relatively compact and doesn't have too much going on to distract.
@qazsedcftgbhujmkolp44015 жыл бұрын
I like the second one, but I think the third looks more professional, so I would choose the third. On both the second and third, I don’t like how they say ODELL COMPLETE in big letters, then concrete in a smaller font underneath. When I look at it, I just see ODELL COMPLETE and I’m not sure what that means. But if you are going to use the same logo for your landscaping company, you could change “concrete” at the bottom of the logo to “landscape” and that would work. If you are planning multiple Odell Complete businesses, I think you should leave it as is.

I have no experience with ' sun sail shades'. Good information on the 'slope angle'. Your scope of work was quite variable, sometimes causing correct pricing hard to achieve...but you're doing a fine job! DON'T GIVE AWAY TRADE SECRETS!!! The project's 'end results' was impressive, well done! My choice on the logos: #1 is first...I like the letters' font. #2 is second....non-distinctive as to 'concrete flat work' #3 DO NOT USE..."too busy!"....hard to comprehend... (as seen through "an old fart's eyes"....lol). Overall this one is very unique, just needs more critique given to it, which I offer as follows: >>>>> trowels' blade needs narrowing (not much) and position pointing at '2 o'clock as the trowel is 'breaking out to do future work', redefine inner circle of the big 'O'..existing inner circle is indistinguishable, place "ODELL" on line by itself and stretch it's length with font of first logo, and add 'COMPLETE CONCRETE' on it's own line under the 'stretched word' ODELL and use 'gold lines' under ODELL and COMPLETE CONCRETE
