I believe that the ITY-Z, an updated product that my local hardware store switched to last year is engineered for obsolescence. Many have not made it even one year. The plastic is less flexible than previous versions, and appears to lack UV resistance as evidenced by fading and brittleness. I understand the concept of engineered planned obsolescent as a business practice - but it is not appropriate for agriculture.
