Good video, but can I make some additional recommendations :- 1/ use a length of 1.5" timber to set your clearance distance from the cab 2/ you can remove the slide section from the mounting base to make fitting much easier 3/ check underneath truck bed before you drill 4/ use sharp drills and don't push hard 5/ use high speed setting on drill (avoids jamming and sharp edges) 6/ in addition to priming/painting drill hole edges, smear the fixing with silicone. Makes fixing more secure and gives further protection against corrosion, dust and water ingress 7/ if you'll be going offroad, don't use rivnuts, they can rattle loose. Use stainless bolts with a stainless backing plates or large washers under bed, and stainless nylock nuts. Will also minimise bi-metal corrosion 8/ if you do use rivnuts, drill 7/16" not 1/2". It's a tighter fit and allows you to file off any sharp dags without losing clearance Cheers

The only addition to his instruction I’d recommend would be to verify you aren’t going to drill into a fuel line or any other component under the bed.

Great Video. good explanation and demonstration. I got the 1500 with a 3/4 (75%) slide out. I'm hoping that it comes out far enough to grab tools near the front of the bed. Thanks again. This will help. Now I just have to clear out the back of my truck. Haha

Best KZbin video on install I've seen. I also got the side boxes, which follows the same logic. The only addition for the side boxes is to read their instruction since you have slide mounting block for this accessory to add before you finish mounting the side rails. Don't fully tighten until all is together until you know the side boxes fit. In the instruction, It states to place the brackets for the top boxes back side out, which is correct, but it is confusing with the illustration. The boxes have to be outside of the slide; with the slide on the illustration it appears to be the opposite if you places the bolts through the boxes attaching to the bracket that attaches to the side rails. You have to have the hole in the upper brackets facing in. Once lower boxes are installed (don't forget to tighten end brackets first just before this), tighten all the side rails. Then install the top boxes. One other key is to make sure the side rails go all the way back past the end rail. If you don't the lower boxes will not fit to screw in.

Hello, you should consider working for bedslide as there installer for tutorials videos. Very helpful video thank you. I just purchased the black edition and loaded it with all my pack out boxes and tools and I noticed that it is a little difficult to when I get to the last extension setting. I have to strain for it to click in to the last extension point. When it is empty I have no problem, only when it’s completely loaded. Are you having the same issue?

I am ready to order the 1000 classic. Question os why do you allow 1 1/2" up front? Does the bed overhang the Fram by an 1 1/2"? Thanks.Great job.

Those were the measurements in the instructions. I believe it’s to give it enough clearance when closing fully loaded so that it doesn’t contact the bed. Also, the upper truck bed rail protrudes into the bed about that far.

Great video. I'm having trouble getting the bedslide to slide into the truck bed when I try to install it. Any advice?

Hi I received my bed slide 1000 CL and I had a shop installed the slide today here in Denver Colorado. I want to know If your bed slide has a larger play from side to side as you pull the bed slide out. Is this common. I watched your video from start to finish numerous times. Great video I feel that they didn’t do a good job installing the slide, they were NOT able to install the rail system due to the fact, it hits the lower section of the retraxx Tonnele cover. So now I’m left with extra pieces that will not fit on Bed Slide because of the cover. I have a feeling that I’m gonna have to do it myself. Any suggestions And thanks for your time.

Mine does have a little movement up & down in the tracks. Side to side only seems to be present when it’s extended. I actually took the side rails off of mine and drilled/bolted a couple of them in the center for extra tie down spots. Hope that helps!

Nice detailed installation video but reason why when opening slide out it raises up is to clear your tail gate, tail may appear to be flat with truck but its not so they made cargo slide rise up when pulled out to clear tail gate
@FamilyAdventuresOverlanding
@FamilyAdventuresOverlanding 3 жыл бұрын
They made it raise up at the tailgate to account for the load or weight that it can carry. When loaded it does droop a little, but still raises up to clear the tailgate.

Great Video ! Is there a reason you chose BedSlide over CargoGlide?
@FamilyAdventuresOverlanding
@FamilyAdventuresOverlanding 3 жыл бұрын
For us it basically came down to weight and the way the cargo hold downs operated. The cargo glide is very robust with it’s 3/4” marine grade plywood floor, but we wanted the tie downs to be vertical off of the floor, rather than stick in from the sides. They do make a bracket that allows you to pull vertically from the exterior extrusion, but it is an extra piece. The BedSlide is lighter with a composite floor and the tie downs are vertically mounted. We had a very specific intention with our installation as we knew it would act more as a sliding subfloor once we finished our camper build in the bed. Using it as a slide in a normal pickup bed, you really can’t go wrong with either option. For heavy load control and to keep it from sliding off of the sides of the slide, the CargoGlide edges the BedSlide out slightly due to its tall extruded sides. But those sides can also be a hindrance when trying to carry something wide that doesn’t completely fit within the slides footprint. In the end it really comes down to preference. We are extremely happy with our BedSlide and it has worked flawlessly. We haven’t had any issues holding cargo. The decking, even though it’s composite, has not warped more deflected with the weight we’ve carried. I’ve thrown brake rotors and various other heavy metallic parts up on it and there has been no damage to the decking.

I just purchased this off a website. I didn’t anything about needing to purchase the nutserts separate. Except for alum beds. I have a Dodge Ram 1500. Does it come with hardware that u know of.

Was wondering how far does the back of the side measure from the tailgate?
@FamilyAdventuresOverlanding
@FamilyAdventuresOverlanding 2 жыл бұрын
Are you asking how far the bedslide is from the back side of the tailgate? The handle measures around 1.75" from the tailgate, while the actual body/sliding portion is 4.75" from the tailgate. Hope that helps.

I wonder why Bedslide doesn't just ship with the rails already on. It doesn't look like it would be that much thicker if they already did this for you
@FamilyAdventuresOverlanding

It would definitely speed the process up for sure. Based on the way it was packaged, I’m guessing it was to protect the aluminum rails from damaged during shipping and to get it in the smallest box possible. Thanks for watching!

be aware of gas tank(s) position when drilling
@FamilyAdventuresOverlanding
@FamilyAdventuresOverlanding 3 жыл бұрын
The fuel tank should not be an issue as it’s quite a ways under the bed. That being said, I wouldn’t use a super long drill bit to be on the safe side. Also, it’s good practice to look under the bed in that general area to make sure there isn’t anything mounted directly below.

I wish the rear platform was flared out past the wheel wells so all that space isn't lost.
@FamilyAdventuresOverlanding
@FamilyAdventuresOverlanding 4 жыл бұрын
They do make accessory boxes/bins that can be installed on the rails that hover over the wheel wells. That way there isn’t any unused space. Thanks for watching.
