How to install the Fanatec Quick Release on McLaren GT3 Steering Wheel

I was holding out for the QR2, but I couldn't take the clunking of my QR-Lite anymore. Lowered my PB in a GT3 by 2 seconds at LeMans in Assetto Corsa (race trim). I always knew I was holding back. Thought I was always going to snap the QR-Lite. Had to dial down the FFB to the point of some cars feeling floaty. Not anymore. Can raise the FFB where I feel comfortable. A game changer.

Hi Will, I used your vid to help me fit my Quick release Adapter. Here in the UK I had to purchase it separately from the wheel. The bolts supplied with the Quick release adapter were slightly shorter than the ones fitted to the plastic release mechanism. The flange on the plastic release is thicker than on the metal Quick release adapter. Not sure it makes any difference but thought I'd mention it as you have a lot of followers. hey Will..ya finally took plunge and did upgrade to CLS DD and new Simagic pedals (pre ordered Asetek but still waiting so i grabed simagik got here in 1 week)...super excited to..but just wanted to be sure which way the quick release went on so thanks much..cheers mate.....shopping cockpits at the moment...so many choices these days for sim gear ..so those reviews ya'll do are important so we noobs don't get shafted..its really a community service ya'll doing ..so keep em coming (actually ordered the Asetek pedals from watching the interview then review but daaang taking too long ima still get em but ya i moved on i wanna race

Hi Will. The ClubSport Quick Release Adapter is no longer included to the McLaren. It's again optional and the McLaren can be bought for its regular price of 180€ in the EU or 170$ in the US. Its only included in Japan and Australia as a special bundle (the ones which have the CSQR at the end of the name) until stock also runs out like in the US and EU.

Boosted Media don’t hold me to it as my boy is all over the VR at the moment. I kinda get the feeling you won’t like it as you won’t be able to see your controls, buttons etc. immersion would be great though

Dang. Was hoping for some torque specs. My Mclaren wheel, the qr bolts keep loosening on my DD2 over time. Want to apply some industrial grade loctite and torque to max and see if I can go longer than a month without re-tightening,

When you're removing don't have the wheel just below your waste height, because it can end up being more painful than smacking yourself in the face! 😂

I learned as a set up guy at a machine shop to turn the bolts counter clockwise, until you feel the thread drop down. That’ll help with cross threading issues

So, is it better than the plastic qr? I have a csw 2.5 and the v2 wheel, much of the fb is lost compaired to the f1 style wheels. Seems that this qr is a lot stiffer, can you clarify that? Or maybe make a short video? My guess is that a lot of v2 owners are hesitating to spend an extra 100 bucks.

Hey Will I’m having a hard time with the quick release secured black screw. The flat head I’m using is not unscrewing it, it’s just turning.

Do you mean the black placeholder bolt (more like pin) that you just pull out? The self-centering secure bolt has threads and is located in your hardware package.

@@mikekempton1993 thanks Mike I actually figured it out just now. I had to apply pressure on the quick release slider to unloosen the pin bolt from its place with the flat head and unloosen the rest with my hand.

I have a question will this quick release allow this wheel to be used with the clubsport v2.5 wheel base. I really like the rim, but not sure if it’s compatible?

Have had 2 GT3 wheels and they both failed with the gear shifting, a shame as I liked the wheel . These wheels are a disaster in waiting with many having the same problem. I have owned 10 other Fanatec products that have worked great. Maybe they have fixed the problem with the earlier batches but the 2 I had didnt work on the Podium DD2

My wheel just arrived from Fanatec along with the QR mech. When I shake the wheel forwards and backwards it rattles. Is this normal or is there likely to be something loose or broken?

I've trying to FIGURE OUT why my wheel was feeling losse and moving from side to side while driving for a while... TILL I understood that I forgot a screw in a hole a the Quick Release. That was the retention screw😐 Even the guy from the Fanatec support team I sent a video of the issue to told me he didn't see any issue with the wheel having that behavior, LOL!

The wheel is compatible. The CSL Elite Wheelbase is PS4 compatible but not the v1.1 which is what I have.

Binod Shrestha if the wheelbase was the CSL Elite+ rather than the CSL Elite v1.1 this setup would be compatible with PS4 in addition to PC and Xbox One with a rim like this McLaren GT3

Warning! All these KZbin videos are great and interesting. The one thing they don’t do is inform you what their products are like to live with over a period of time. If you wish to have a happy and content life please take my advise and look at the FANATEC’s own Forum in regards to all the issues they have and their terrible customer service. I have one word to the question should you purchase FANATEC products? DONT. I would have had the same amount of problems with a real race car.. On a lighter note Im very grateful FANATEC do not build motor vehicles
