What’s your measurement for your top 2x4?

Usually 69- 70 inches. 72 inch picket + 1 inch off the ground - 3 inch reveal above the top rail

Hey Bud. Question - how do you know when the angle changes at 8:11 - meaning how do you run your top string so it reflects that along the entire length (or what are you using to calibrate the height of the top string as you go along? Thanks and Happy TG 2024! JB.

So I run the string corner to corner (or end to end if it's a straight line) at the desired height. Let's call it 69" for a standard DE fence. Then you walk down the line measuring the height of the string at each post. You'll see the height either increase or decrease to a maximum, then it'll start to return towards the 69". (Ex. Corner post: 69" post 1: 70" post 2: 71" post 3: 70") at the "peak" (post 3 at 71" in this example) put a screw in and correct the height to the 69". Then repeat the process until the whole string is within your desired tolerance. You can then step back and take a look at the string, and if it looks dumb, adjust it so it doesn't look so jagged. @@BigJakester Thanks a million. I'll just follow the slight slope, run a chalk line along the sloped picket offsets, and cut the top line flat with a circ saw.
