I want you to know that I appreciate your videos and will eventually go back through each of them starting and pausing as I travel through this process. You have given me the confidence to give it a try. Thank you so much.

Excellent video. Thank you so much. I'd like to ask about the needle bar and pressure bar. You said never to polish them length wise but to polish around the circumference, why os that? Thank you.
@SewingMachineRehabАй бұрын
Hi! Yes, the grain on the bars originally goes around, not up and down. If you polished them up and down you would be going against the grain and it wouldn't look very nice. It's just the way they were originally brushed/polished. I hope that helps!

Fabulous job, your explanations are so logical and easy to follow. Can I ask, is the needle bar supposed to be really tight going back into the bushing. I had to use a tiny hammer and lever, using tiny gentle taps to get mine out and it seems to be really rough inside the bushing and VERY tight to get the needle bar back in. I have cleaned the bar and there are no rough spots on it. I would really appreciate your input, thanks so much :)
@SewingMachineRehab2 ай бұрын
Hi, thank you for your kind words! It sounds like your needle bar may be slightly bent. I would have to see it to be sure. You can try rolling it on a very flat, even surface to tell. You may be able to fix it or you may need to find a new one on eBay. Without examining your needle bar and machine it would be hard for me to say for sure. Wish I could be of even more help!

@@SewingMachineRehab You are right, there is the slightest kink in the middle. Probably not recommended, but I have my husband, who is a mechanic, on the job. He is very finely filing the needle bar down with the finest sandpaper, so it goes in easier . He says it works on car engines, so can't see any reason why it won't work here lol. It feels like he is nearly there, just the slightest resistence in one spot, so I am going to let him keep going. I feel that if there is no wobble and it travels up and down without resistance, it can't do any harm. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, it is greatly appreciated. I'll let you know how we go. thanks again :)

Help! I took the hand wheel off my mums old singer. I undid the screw and wound it off and that was fine. I didn’t take notice of which way the little washer went on and I must have put it on the wrong way and so now I can’t take it off to fix it. The needle bar just keeps going up and down and I can’t loosen or tighten the stop motion knob. Does it mean I’ll never be able to,fix it now? 😮
@SewingMachineRehab2 ай бұрын
Oh no! I would need to see the parts you are talking about to offer some help. I am sure you can fix it though. Feel free to email me pictures to jen@sewingmachinerehab.com

Hi, I found a spring squished between the tension releasing pin and the back of the tension mechanism. This is why I’m watching this video to see if you are putting a spring back in there. So far I can’t see one. Any idea what this spring could be from? Cheers in advance EDIT mine is 1959 99K
@SewingMachineRehabАй бұрын
Hi! On this model part of the spring sets behind the tension stud. So it has to go on when you put the stud in. I just released the video on how to do it, I bet that is what you have. Look over your spring and make sure it isn't broken, if it is you will need to replace it. Good luck!

Hi! There are some models of 99’s that have more than one reverse screw. I am not sure my late 99 has both (can’t remember right now) Hopefully the future videos help you get unstuck, working on them now!

@@SewingMachineRehab I am looking forward to them, I realized I also have an early model in rougher shape but I dare not take it apart till I get the other one back together 😁
